Living in 1956

If you could time travel back to 1956 and had an "annual pass" (I know they didn't exist then) to visit Disneyland whenever you wanted, how often would you go? Would you become bored with the place fairly quickly? What would be your favorite ride?

I wouldn't go very often based on how infrequently I visit now. If I were a kid I'd probably want to go every day!

I'd probably be a big fan of The Mine Train since I never had the opportunity to ride it.

OK, here is a Disneyland Press Release from 1956...

I wasn't born until 1960, but went many times in the 1960's

I loved The Mine Train, remember riding the mules, loved paddling the canoes. The Indian Village was OK, but I was more interested in doing things than watching a show.

Still love the sky views of things like the Skyway, which I do at SeaWorld San Diego and the San Diego Zoo

I was born in 66 and was lucky enough to ride quite a few times. I still remember getting my finger slammed in the door of one of the cars...somewhere in one of my mom's photo albums is a pic of me near the ride holding finger because it was hurting so bad.

I remember visiting in 1971 as a kid and seeing The Mine Train, but because of the coupon system we missed a lot of rides including all of Frontierland except The Mark Twain riverboat. By the time we returned in 1977 The Mine Train was being demolished for Big Thunder.

I chose 1956 because they just added the Mine Train and haven't added the subs/monorail yet. The Mine Train felt like Disneyland's first e-ticket. I have vague memories of the Mine Train from the 70's but I do remember when Big Thunder opened that my mom complained it was just the Mine Train but sped up. My parents never really understood Disneyland even though we went twice a year.

Looking at pictures from 1956 people dressed a lot better than they do now. It was an event to go to Disneyland.

It's weird seeing Adventureland's entrance without the Tiki Room.
