I was looking this morning for the Live Camera of Epcot that use to be on Weatherbug. But I have looked and even done a Google Search and no luck. Am I just missing something??

Are you talking about the one that was on top of the Dolpin?
It was there until last week or so.
My computer screenaver automatically pulled in the live image every 30 seconds or so but hasn't worked for a few days.

Oh it's there!!

The camera seemed to give out on Feb 23 at around 3:30 in the AM. I know because I check this camera religiously! (I loved and miss the WDW cams and really wish they would bring them back to the rest of the WDW parks!! I'm digressing..)

The cam as of Monday the 13th was 'working' again, meaning it was showing the proper time but it's not showing a picture.

I'm kinda upset that its offline, cause I'm really jonesin' for a DW fix, the view from that camera was almost my exact view from the Boardwalk when we just recently stayed there (Feb 24 to Mar4). Ask for room 2001, 3001, 4001, or 5001 at Boardwalk, it's a long walk from the front, but the view is spectacular, you can sit on your balcony, watch illuminations (except for the water part) and if you listen closely, you can actually hear the music.

Here is the link to the weather cam, it's there just not working very well!:

Maybe try emailing guest services at WDW and let them know you want to see the actual WDWparks webcams back up!! They were maintained much better than weatherbugs.

Does anyone have the e-mail address for Guest Relations so that we can all send e-mails?

Well unless Disney stance on the webcams have changed and I doubt they have, but they stated it was due to security reasons.

My very first camera I use to watch was MAIN STREET USA. Then that went away then onto Contemporary Hotel facing Tomorrowland. Then 9/11 got that one too and all I was left with was Dolphin towards Epcot.

So I am hoping its just a maintance issue. And better yet they need to change out that camera and put in a better quality one. Maybe add one towards the other parks?? MGM is just across the street. Maybe MK or AK??

Well, for what good it will do, I also e-mailled guest relations today asking for them to put the webcams back online.

I think the reason the Magic Kingdom, and MGM cams are gone is because of security issues since 9/11. I don't think they are coming back....(wish they were)

webcams

It wasn't 9/11 that did it. They were off before that. I also emailed right after they were shutoff and the reply was that it was temporary. After doing some digging, it was to reduce the "information" for competition.

It wouldn't shock me at all if it was a corportate espionage preventer. Everyone in that area is so serious about crushing the competition, that there may have been a few security breaches. It wouldn't even surprise me if there were people working as CM's who got paid to give info to Universal and vice-versa. Just the current world of business.

If I've said it once..

I've posted this in another post already, but I feel the need to be on a soapbox about this issue:

I know there are lots of arguments against the cams out there, (legal issues with so many people being on the web against their knowledge, terrorist plots etc) but there are lots of ways around it (a nice upshot of the castle from the rose garden? Maybe a nice view of Epcot from Boardwalk (ala this site: http://www.instacam.com/showcam.asp?id=LKBNV&size=S)? that is currently not working to it's full potential)

There are options, and I don't think money is a limitation, I don't think 1 to 4 webcams will make or break the Disney Parks bank. I think I can speak for a lot of people when I say "They are a great glimpse into the magical vacation destination when your far far away!", it's like a warm cup of cocoa on a cold and rainy/snowy day.

I don't think there is a valid reason for the webcams to be removed.

For every valid concern there is a viable way around it.

Worried about part of the castle falling off and being seen on camera? Have the cams on a 10, 20 or 30 minute delay, then someone can stop the feed if need be?

Worried about people flashing at Disneyworld? Put the cam in a high traffic area or away from most people (or use a time delay)?

Terrorism strike.. give me a break, anybody can figure out when the peak days are at the park just by skimming websites like this, or any of the park traffic websites that are already online.

i think with the technology that we have now, I don't think Disney is worried about competition counting heads. Heck universal could send people over and just count the people going into the park at the front gate. And again: everyone here knows that traffic flow is pretty much scheduled at Disneyworld, there are sites devoted to predicting when the heaviest seasons are.

Any logical thinking person should know there isn't a viable reason not to have the webcams, and if there is there is a way to solve the problem. As support to the above statement: If it was even remotely an issue i'm sure they would have forced the weatherbug camera down long before now.

Now if anyone from Disney is reading:

If disney will bring back their webcams, i will sign up for a DVC membership, I am DYING to find out about the best kept secret! HA HA! (seriously I might do it!)

This is exactly what I was thinking. It's not as if what goes on at WDW is a secret. Anyone can go there and take videos, photos, etc.

There seems to be a bit of confusion here.

Yes, the majority of the webcams were gone many years ago. However, the one from the Dolphin (that showed SSE from far away) operated up until a few weeks ago.

I don't think this has anything to do with Disney - Disney does not operate the hotel it was shown from, nor Weatherbug. Perhaps calling the Dolphin would help?

I totally agree it was just a feed they received from the Dolphin. And the Feed is still there but there is no Camera. Its totally a issue with Dolphin or running there Camera. Thats what I hope its just a temporary issue and it comes back. But we need to find the contact at the Dolphin who runs it.
