No! Not Duff. I hope she doesn't agree. I was hoping for Natalie Portman. Oh well, Jim Hill does have some great history stories of Disney, but his news and rumors are a little dusty. I really have my fingers crossed that its not duff. :hurl:

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!
Make her go away, I don't like that plastic demon of plasticy! Let her career hit that dreadful rock of death that is Former Child Actor Syndrome(she did do stuff before Lizard McGuire). Anyone have the cursed script for Atuk around?

Ugh! Say it ain't so!! If the Muppets sink that low, I will cry. I love them... and would be ashamed to see them in a film with her in it.

Hey, at least one good thing cam out of this. If she gets the role, the mvie will probably be a hit with kids, and that means more Muppets movies!
Hey, I got a really bad joke.
What do you call a dumb blonde?
Dorothy.
Ok, that was a eally bad joke.
Sorry about that.

If (non-skank) Anne Hathaway, a MUCH more talented choice, by the way, was chosen, kids would be just as eager. . . and give more value to the Muppet name. :D

Grizz,

What would you say about Christy Carlson-Romano?
Christy did Belle on Broadway, and from what I have seen (again, I don't watch the Disney Channel regularly), she actually sings, acts, etc. without all of the revealing clothes, crap, and rap.

Anyone but Duff! (EDIT: EXCEPT LINDSEY LOHAN!!!)

Yes, even RAVEN!

I think Christy Carlson-Romano would be a *much* better choice. Or even Anne Hathaway, as someone else said. I'll admit, I do like Hilary Duff somewhat (*waits for tomatoes to be thrown at me*). But she isn't right for this part.

I thought Duff had broken ties with Disney so I figured she wouldn't be in anymore movies coming from Disney. I like Lindsay Lohan but not as Dorothy. Anne Hathaway can't do it either, I don't think she has a very good singing voice and she can't be Dorothy and Princess Mia. So who else could play it off well? Natalie Portman wouldn't be my first choice, but is doable I guess. What about the girl from Tiger Cruise, she was in Remember the Titans also? Wonders if she can sing? I think she is adorable and quite a good actress. Will there even be alot of singing in the Muppet version of Wizard of Oz? If they want to use Duff then they might as well use one the Simpson girls.

Ashanti, Tarantino Off to See Muppets in 'Oz'

Tue Aug 24, 2004 01:34 AM ET
By Nellie Andreeva

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - R&B singer Ashanti and director Quentin Tarantino are set to star in ABC's original movie tentatively titled "The Muppets' Wizard of Oz."

Queen Latifah, meanwhile, is in final negotiations to appear in the Muppet take on the classic L. Frank Baum novel.

Ashanti plays aspiring performer Dorothy Gale, who works at the diner of her Auntie Em (Latifah) in a small Kansas town while dreaming of hitting the big time.

One day, a tornado sweeps up the trailer where Dorothy lives, and she finds herself in a Muppet version of Oz. There, she meets the Munchkins (played by the Muppet rats), the Scarecrow (Kermit the Frog), the Tin Man (Gonzo) and the Lion (Fozzie).

The group's quest to get the Wicked Witch (Miss Piggy) culminates with a fight scene between Dorothy and the witch.

As the action is about to begin, the film cuts to Tarantino pitching to Kermit how the scene should be done -- a cameo written specifically for the "Kill Bill" director.

Kirk R. Thatcher, who directed NBC's successful "Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie" in 2002, is on board to shoot the film, which will air as part of the Wonderful World of Disney franchise. It will feature several music numbers but will not be a musical.

The Jim Henson Co., the creator of the "Muppets," began development on the film with ABC before the network's Disney parent bought Henson's "Muppets" and "Bear in the Big Blue House" properties in February.

Ashanti will next be seen in Paramount's "Coach Carter," starring Samuel L. Jackson. Queen Latifah, who received an Oscar nomination for her supporting role in the musical "Chicago," was most recently seen in "Barbershop 2: Back in Business." Her upcoming movies include "Taxi," "Beauty Shop" and "The Cookout."

Tarantino's acting credits include a guest arc on ABC's "Alias," as well as the 1995 feature "Destiny Turns on the Radio."

Just as Waldorf said, Disney has to ruin it with a pig. . .

(And I don't mean Miss Piggy.)

Darn you, management. Change your minds. NOW.

You think everything has to be "hip" and "pop" and "rock" and "skanky" over GOOD or timeless. Only it hurts you more. And yet you have people like Anne Hathaway and Christy Romano and Raven who are already popular among kids AND great influences talent-wise. GEE WHIZ!

Stupid, stupid, stupid, stupid. . .
