I'm somewhat surprised by the negative reactions. I thought most people here wanted Disney to limit how much Genie+ inventory they were selling.
It’s not a negative reaction on my part. I’m thrilled that there is the realization that the Iger inspired Chapek implemented revenue enhancement scheme has ultimately failed.

I am glad it’s not selling out until later in the day. It would stink to have to set one alarm to buy genie at midnight and another alarm to make your first selection at 7am.

Going back to advanced bookings doesn't change anything. They don't have enough capacity to make it work for one and two if they did that say goodbye to daily price changes.

Prebooking doesn't necessarily eliminate daily price changes. Disney has figured out how to have different ticket prices based on historical demand. They could easily apply the same pricing system to G+ that they use for park tickets. Lowest price ticket days would have G+ swt at $15 and the highest would have G+ at $29.

Now, that doesn't solve the capacity problem, of course. However, that's a problem that will exist no matter what system they use unless they add significant capacity across all 4 parks.

I thought @Disney Glimpses may have said something late last year about the code being ready to limit purchases, but they hadn't really turned the restriction on yet. That might speak a bit to why the prior holidays were more mobbed.

Also the CEO changed just before Christmas, and I assume Iger needed every dollar possible ahead of this past earnings call and (potential) proxy fight.
According to the article on the front page here at WDW Magic, that code was added last May.

That it didn’t launch with that ability tells you exactly where their priorities were in rolling this out originally, though.

The issues people have with G+ are emotional.

It's like people who hate Nicholas Cage - besides the obvious, there isn't necessarily a logic to it.

You just have to accept that the feelings are real.

*toward G+. I've got no issue with Mr. Cage.

There appears to be a system wide Genie issue today. I purchased for my family of 4 but when I tried to reserve my first ride at 7, it kept bringing me back to the purchase page. If I try to repurchase, it says, you already purchased for today. Repeat repeat repeat. Slinky is still showing availability for 8:30 (it’s now 7:26) so I don’t think anyone can reserve 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’ve been in the chat but no one has answered yet.

I guess we'll have to add this to the list of issues with day-of ride reservations. If there is an IT issue you can't just try again tomorrow. If this happened 60 days out it would still be stressful but you'd calm down by the time your visit starts and would have time to work it out over the phone.

Of course unscheduled fast pass (walk on anytime) or no fast pass would also be better than day-of scheduling.

Yes - became an issue about an hour ago. Disney is aware - you may need to visit one of the Guest Experience Team areas and have them help. If you have someone else in your group with a My Disney Experience account, have them check as not all accounts are affected.

Thank you. Just spoke with them. Unfortunately I am the only one in my family with an account. It has been a rough day here at DHS 🫠
