Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

If you asked 100 people why they didn’t see strange world I’m sure 2 would say because a gay character made them feel icky and the other 98 would say “see what now?”

The other big movie to open for thanksgiving was a military action movie and it also bombed, is that because middle America is anti-military? (It actually may very well lose more money than Strange World when you consider international markets and streaming)

Sometimes movies just bomb. But I’ll tell the cast of Modern Family that I’m sorry no one watched their show that aired for 11 years because of THE GAYS.
i havent seen it yet because the marketing sucks. I barely know what its about and it nothing that I have seen has intrigued me enough to go see it. Usually, I'm excited to go see a movie. The only reason i will see it, eventually is the Disney name. And that doesnt work for everyone.

good point... speaking of which do we know how it worked during the busy Thanksgiving week? anyone have 1st hand reports or were there that can report?

We just got back yesterday. We used Genie+ every day and it worked great. Honestly we had a wonderful week. We were able to ride whatever we wanted to with minimal waiting the first hour of the day and then layered Genie+ rides for late morning and after dinner. I was able to secure 5 or 6 rides a day with it if not more and overall we got a lot more accomplished than I anticipated. We are go early, take afternoon breaks, and go back after dinner kind of people. If I wanted to just keep going all day I could have added more rides.

The only park I found it didn't work well at all was at Hollywood Studios. We went early and did every Toy Story ride with very little wait and then used Genie+ for Rock n Roller Coaster. Right after riding I booked one for Mickey and Minnie and the ride went down. Automatically got an anytime Genie+. At that point the park was chaos and claustrophobic (at barely 10 am) so we left. On our way out we swung by guest services and they converted that anytime ride to Magic Kingdom. We used it there plus were able to stack a lot more rides for that night.

Honestly I prefer Genie+ to FastPass+. I find we are able to ride a lot a day with it. We can only travel on school holidays and back in FastPass+ days we were really only able to ride at rope drop and then use our 3 FP's. After that all the lines were unmanageable and it was impossible to get a 4th FP for anything we wanted to ride. I also prefer the flexibility of booking rides day off as opposed to 60 days out. Yes it sucks getting up early but it's Disney. It's not a relaxing vacation destination.

It actually has happened… I’m pretty sure buffets have had higher prices during peak days and I know some counter service would change the menu on busy days like New Years.
Agree, WDW has been adjusting prices on food for years, especially buffets over holiday periods.

In prior days of the dining plan, the DDP had a fixed price. That made it a better value during holiday weeks (over low-crowd weeks). I have a feeling if/when the dining plan returns, it will also be subject to variable pricing.

Has anyone attempted to explain what the heck happened with Jungle Cruise where it's now considered an S-tier Magic Kingdom attraction again?
Do you mean why it “sells out” of G+ return times so early?

A combination of slow loading and an outdoor queue with little respite from the weather. Plus wait times that don’t really drop much through the day, unlike 7DMT for example, which starts high but then drops down as the day goes on.

So therefore people rush to book it for G+ knowing that times will quickly push to 3-4pm, perfect for those who want to stack some early evening rides, return to the parks after a break or hop to MK.

Besides all of the above - it's also a classic, it's oozes nostalgia and now that all the Gen-Xers with or without kids are flooding WDW, we like to ride it. :)

I don’t think it’s new. Touring Plans wait times by crowd level, which I believe are still based on pre-pandemic observations, have the line peaking at over an hour even on crowd level 3/10 days.

But then combine that with I think a capacity reduction - feels to me based on my experiences that there’s no way they’re running as many boats as they did 10 years ago - a movie that a lot of people saw, and a handful of new show elements / refreshening, and you have what we have now.

I believe the people who track this stuff say a G+ at JC will save you more time in line than any other MK attraction. Which in and of itself I think induces more demand, with the just in case crowd.
