Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

Agree the demo for epcot genie+ is park hoppers (plus folks that may not understand the system), but underscores why having FEA as IAS is so lame.

coupled with MMRR (SDD was the obvious choice, no?) seems like it is targeting families with young children who need to pay to avoid a meltdown

I suspect TT didn't get chosen because of the amount of downtime it has. That would be a guest relations nightmare.

I'll just be sitting over here waiting for my November 2022 trip watching all the guinea pigs get the glitches out of the way. :)

BUT there is some conflicting info on this, so think we may have to see on this. Like a lot of Genie, it is perhaps still in flux.

From the guest facing Genie site:

When to Select Attractions
You can purchase individual selections for up to 2 different attractions per day.
  • Guests of a Disney Resort Hotel and Other Select Hotels: These Guests can make their first purchase starting at 7:00 AM on the day of their visit. Available to Disney Resort hotel Guests and Guests of Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels and Shades of Green.
  • All Other Guests: These Guests can make their first purchase when the park opens.

And in another place:

Lightning Lane entry as an "á la carte" purchase will be offered at a few of our most popular attractions. This option can be purchased by all Guests—with or without the purchase of Disney Genie+ service—and lets you choose a time to arrive at the Lightning Lane entry at up to 2 attractions each day (purchased one at a time).
Do we know If the one ride per attraction per day is confirmed? I know it was mentioned the other day but I haven't seen anything about that on the site and it kind of seems to indicate that you can ride as much as you want all day.

I know we’ve been discussing this, which is why we already have the site FAQs and your Rumour Tracker.

But the info released which I’ve seen doesn’t match up with that, and is quite specific. Unfortunately the U.K. site doesn’t have anything about it yet, so I can’t see what Disney posted.

For example this is what’s on MDE:

“Once you’ve redeemed your initial selection (or the arrival window has passed) you can make another selection”.

And again about the ILL, the wording was was definitely “onsite guests can reserve one at 7am”.

I know who Scott is but I haven’t seen anyone post his tweets yet.

Here's his tweet on this -

I haven't read all through the thread but I did read all of Disney's release on this and I have a question.

IF I pay the $15 can I ride all the attractions that are included over and over during that day? IE get off Buzz and walk right back in the Genie line as many times as I like?

just to clarify, the rumor is "one ride per attraction per day when using the Genie+ LL" - you can ride using standby as much as you want, even after using a Genie+ time slot.

Of course, that's what I meant. Thanks for adding the clarification, not enough ☕ yet this morning.

At launch, you will only be able to use a Lightning Lane once per attraction per day - so use Genie+ for Buzz once, then the rest will have to be in the standby lane.

How do we know this? I saw it as a rumor on Twitter but it's not in any of Disney's official info.

The way I read it you can purchase 2 per day and prices will vary form attraction to attraction and its will vary depending on date you are there. You pick 2 per day and that's it
"Throughout the year, prices may be lower on some days and higher on other days. This option may be purchased at up to 2 different attractions each day."

Back in the day when Toy Story Midway Mania opened at DHS more than 10 years ago , FPs were sold out quickly and hard to come by. Some savvy folks would stand outside the FP area and sell their passes to interested parties. I passed and stood in line .

You're talking about the IAS. The question is regarding the Genie+ attractions.

This was information provided from Disney to press/media.

Could this change between now and the 19th? Sure, but that is what the answer is currently.

so based on what we know a regular genie pass for one day at $15 basically gets you ONE FP for those attractions

IE it’s not unlimited acces to those attractions all day. Is that right?

DH and I have been to WDW so many times we stopped counting. We decide together what we would like to do, but I do all the planning. With our trip less than two weeks away, I tried explaining the rules involving park reservations, Genie+ and paid attractions (to the extent that I know them). It took forever and after I was done, the only two things I'm sure he understands with certainty are that this is going to cost him more money and he may have to wake up early on vacation. (Disclaimer: we are the people - apparently the only ones - for whom FP+ worked like a charm.)

Correct.

You can book as many as you can fit in, but you cannot re-ride any one ride using Genie+ You can ride again using stand-by.
