Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

You could be right. DVC especially seems to be fully booked, but they also need those points consumed.

Conversely, All-Star Sports lost it's opening date and the rest of CL still is trickling back slowly. They are definitely holding back inventory...
Given both staffing challenges and soft-ish demand, I imagine it makes more sense to reduce resort capacity and charge rack rates instead of trying to stretch staffing/increase capacity and wind up discounting rooms.

We are staying on-site for right now but that is very likely going to change to off-site. This dream that some people (not pointing at you. :) ) have that has convinced them that they will be able to rope drop both IAS attractions each day is hysterical to me. They'll be lucky to get through the attraction #1 before that tiny little 30 minutes is gone.
So these are real day 1 experiences from friends of mine, albeit at a low crowd time.

AK: entered park at 7:30am. Walked to FoP at 8:20, then rode Navii, EE twice and Dino by 9:30 and then headed over to the Safari where they waited maybe 15 minutes.

DHS: entered park at 7:30am
Group 1 were one of the first onto Rise at 8:30am
Group 2 got caught in a slight SNAFU but rode MFSR at 8:45 and then did ToT and RnR with no wait.

So not within the 30 minutes, but because the offsite rope droppers headed straight for the headliners, my friends benefitted for their next rides.

Now does it make sense for travelers to go this holiday season or try to wait one more year when we all kind of expect the world to be more pre-pandemic (aka normal). +Tron, +GotG, plus old favorites like Meet & Greets, character meals and the Disney Dining Plan?
(That's why I built the Disney Comeback Index - this all relevant to its purpose)
This is definitely where we fall on vacation plans after 2020 being a no go, main draw when planning was GE area for us and possibly the hotel.
Budgeted a few cheaper vacations, for then and this year instead. Rat doesn't personally have a big draw, and the extensive EP construction made it less ideal. Knowing there are still 2 more rides coming, and DD13 being past the dress up size now, waiting a bit longer is better for us when travel expenses are 1/4 of our budget.

I get what you're saying but everybody needs to remember exactly what you just said. At a low crowd time. This time next year won't be this empty in the parks. It's the way it is right now because the Delta variant is still popping off and there's a lot of people still scared to go. I think that this time next year the parks will be back at pre-covid levels. I hope I'm wrong. I hope I'm wrong and the crowd levels stay low like this every year this time of the year but I just don't see it happening.

Thing is I don't see the levels for early entry ever getting to be much larger. There's a finite amount of hotel space on property, a finite amount of guests who get up for rope drop, and those groups are spread across the four parks instead of one like previous EMH. Morning EMH used to be really good for that hour during even the busiest of times, even though it was just one park offering it. Dividing it by four and the crowds are that much less. You'll still have off-site guests heading towards flight of passage while you're done with the ride even if it's at 8:50 and you head towards Everest or Kilimanjaro Safari.

Exactly. The pandemic won’t suddenly make people rush the gates at 7:30 or 8:30. And crowds will not reach 2019 levels for a long time.

Who is next in line for CEO?

Just in case.

McCarthy?
Are you kidding me? Chapek is a god damn hero amongst DIS stick holders. He took all the money out the parks and put it into Disney+. No ME, free magic bands, less staff, no more live performers and add in another revenue source in genie/ias?

guy might go down as the best CEO ever

**don’t get me wrong I can’t stand him b I’m a parks guy, but pls, he’s been incredible for the company profits

Once at 60 days? More like 73 times at day 60 and then 9 times a day every day after to ensure I got the rides and times we wanted. And then heaven forbid we decide we’d like to do something different while on vacation. I vastly prefer planning my vacation while there, not 2 to 6 months out.
We'll see. I'm willing to give it a shot - I liked the idea of being able to select the return time rather than pick the next available (for the Genie+ option)... I don't want to have to live on my phone while on vacation to try to get the return time I want,.especially when it's for later in the day....

Take arrival day for example. With FP+ I could schedule 3 attractions I knew I could get on in the peak of the day - but now logging in at 7 will be useless for an afternoon arrival, and I'll have to wait until I land to hope I can get a return time that matches our arrival to the parks.

I felt like I already lived on my phone. I’ve enjoyed standby-only. So much simpler.
