Pre-Trip Let's Try This Again

Hello everyone!
My name is Zac (contrary to what my user name says ;) ) and I am a 20 year old who has been lurking on these boards for a long time. I made an account not to long about so I could see all the pictures blown up but I have been around for longer than it may seem! Anyway, I decided to do a pre-trip report because I am just super excited for my next trip for multiple reasons.

Background:
As I said I am 20 years old and I have gone to Disney about 12 times in my life starting back in 1999. So you could say I am an addict like most people around here! Early this year (January to be exact) I finally came around to accepting myself of my sexuality and starting dating a guy I met back in December. Both of us didn't want people to know and still haven't people. Well we got to know each other and I shared my love for Disney with him. He told me he had never been. I couldn't believe it! My birthday happened to land over spring break this year. My significant other and I were going to Gulf Shores with a lot of people but deep down I wanted to be in Disney on my birthday since I have never gotten to experience that. So one night him and I were talking and we decided to leave Alabama a day early and drive to Disney for 3 nights so I could get my wish. To not make things seem obvious, we asked everyone going to Alabama if they wanted to come with us but no one wanted to or had the money (story of a college kid right?!) So all the planning went great! We stayed at Pop Century, had all the ADR's I wanted (I know what that acronym is!) and everything was great. Gulf Shores was a ton of fun but I was ready to be in my home. So early Friday morning we woke up and drove to the happiest place on earth. This was his first time so he did not know what to expect and boy did he under estimate it. We got there around 6, checked in, and headed to DTD. He fell in love instantly! We had ADR's at Rainforest (one of my favorite places to eat) and we had a great dinner. We were super excited when we got back to the room and were ready for the next day at DHS and Epcot! We woke up the next morning and thats when disaster hit. He was throwing up constantly. We think he got food poisoning. :( Well long story short that trip we ended up spending all of it (and my birthday) in the room trying to make him feel better. Disney did refund some of my dining and canceled my ADR's (one at BOG) for no charge.

So ever since then we have been talking about going back and we finally had something planned in May! September 17th - 21st would be free dining with the deluxe upgrade at Coronado Springs. We decided to make it a little more special since we had a fail of a trip last time. Once everything was paid off we were ready to go! Then disaster struck again. Some things came up and put me into a financial situation to where I had to cancel the trip :(

But now, after things have settled down, we are deciding to try this once again!

Planning:
We are going November 5th - 9th and as of now we are staying at All Star Sports with deluxe dining. BUT my grandma is a part of the vacation club and text me the other night saying she has 50 points she can't use in time and is giving them to me. How sweet! So now I am in the process of scrambling to find open Studio rooms for that weekend. I have OKW resort booked for Thursday right now but I really want to have the whole weekend at the Boardwalk. I know that is going to be super hard to get but staying positive and a little pixie dust may just help me out a bit! I already have my ADR's booked but my hands hurt from typing so much LOL! So I will let you know the full plan of action next time!
I am just excited to finally go to the place where no one really will judge us for being us and we can finally just be ourselves down there since we constantly are living in fear of people finding out up here.

PS - Sorry if this is all over the place or isn't a good report. I am just excited and have always wanted to do one of these!

Signing out.

Yay how exciting! That's great when the one you love is also in love with Disney. I don't know what I would do if DH wasn't into it.
Enjoy the rest of your planning and have a fun, HEALTHY trip!

I love the fact that we both love Disney. I may not be able to be with someone who doesn't if we are being honest. LOL

I agree that no one should be sick at Disney. It shouldn't be legal!! And I know, I am very appreciative for her giving me the points! Now I am just waiting on rooms to open up for that weekend!

Now time for one of the best parts of vacation FOOD! We are going to be on the Deluxe Dining Plan so I am super excited about that! When I usually go we are just on the Quick Service Plan and have just one sit down meal so this will definitely be a treat! :) These plans are still up in the air as I am waiting on some ADR's to open up for me.

Thursday:
Breakfast: 6:00 am Take off from Memphis with a 10:45 landing so probably just going to snack before the flight
Lunch: 1:55 pm at Paridiso 37
Dinner: 7:45 pm at California Grill

Friday:
Lunch: 11:30 am at Spice Road Table
Dinner: 6:00 pm at Monsieur Paul

Saturday:
Lunch: 11:00 am at Yak & Yeti
Dinner: 5:00 pm at Be Our Guest

Sunday:
Lunch: 1:00 pm at The Boathouse
Dinner: MVMCP!!!!

Monday:
Lunch: 1:00 pm at Tokyo Dining

So those are the plans so far! If it is italics I have never been there (so every single meal hah!). I know I got lucky with some as I just started planning this trip about a week ago. I am super pumped to be able to try all these new places! Especially The Boathouse, California Grill and BOG! I tried to spice all the meals up so I am not just going to resort to a steak every meal.

Update on the hotel situation: I got rooms at OKW for Thursday and Sunday so we are half way there! I am really really hoping the the Boardwalk opens up as I would LOVE to be in the middle of DHS and Epcot but I know that is still a far fetched dream.

Let me know what you think of my dining plans so far. As I said they aren't completely set in stone, but pretty close!!

I usually go and just eat what ever sounds good but I wanted to try all these new places to eat! Last time I was on the Disney Dining Plan was back in 2007, so it definitely has been a while since I have ate more than just quick service!

California Grill is my personal favourite restaurant at WDW. I have done the Deluxe Dining Plan once but it was way too much food! With your dining plan so far you are only spending 9 or 10 credits but if you are staying 4 nights you will have 12 credits to spend, not to mention 8 snacks. For me personally I found the DDDP not only too much food but it also felt to restrictive during park time. We were constantly going from one dining reservation to another and had to schedule our park time around eating. I know some people love it but I am not one of them. That being said, if you are doing the Deluxe plan I would schedule more signature dining to use up all your credits and experience some of Disney's finest dining. And don't forget to budget for gratuity as that is not included at most restaurants and it can take a big bite out of your budget.

I think I counted 11 credits being use? Maybe I counted wrong lol. But I am just excited to try it once and see how I like it. We are (hopefully) staying at the Boardwalk so that is why a lot of meals are at Epcot! We will see though, I am super excited either way! Especially to use those snacks at Food and Wine Festival because I have never been before during this time.

Update on the hotel:
I got a room on Sunday night at the Boardwalk!! It is slowly opening up for my time so I am starting to get super excited!!!!!!! Hopefully the rest of the days open up and I can get my full trip there!!

Update time!
So I am getting really excited and constantly refreshing the dvc check availability tool waiting for the Boardwalk to open up. Sadly, I still only have a room for that Sunday but I am not giving up hope! Here are my plans so far for the extended weekend trip!

Thursday:
Getting up around 2:00 to head to Memphis for our flight! It leaves at 6:08 and we are landing at 10:23. We will check in (hopefully at the Boardwalk LOL!) and head on down to DTD/DS for a late lunch, shop around a bit and check out the new places. Then we will head back to the hotel and hopefully our room will be ready! I am surprising DBF with a annual pass so we will be able to go to the parks every day! That night we will be going to Hollywood Studios to ride TSMM and watch Fantasmic then head over to Cali Grill. We will probably have an early night to get all rested up for the next days!

Friday:
Wake up and walk to Epcot for lunch and a little stroll then head back over to HS to use our FP's for (hopefully) RNRC, ToT and Star Tours. Then do some of the other stuff like Indy and LMA since DBF has never seen these before. Then we will be heading back to EPCOT for dinner and Food and Wine Festival fun then wrap up our day by watching Illuminations and walking back to our room.
Side note: I think I am more excited to be able to walk to EPCOT and HS more than anything else! Lol it just is going to be so cool!

Saturday:
Wake up and head to AK for FP (hopefully) for The Safari, EE, and Dino. They go see some of the animals and have lunch. Later we will be heading to MK (FINALLLLLLY) for some rides, and then dinner. We will wrap up the night with Wishes and head back to the hotel.

Sunday:
SLEEP IN DAY!! Hopefully not wake up till around 11:30 and then get ready and head to DTD/DS again for shopping and food. Once we are done there head to MK for some MVMCP!!! I have never been during the holidays so I am super excited about this! Since we have AP I think we will go in earlier than 4 so we can see Festival of Fantasy. I will also hopefully make FP's for Seven Dwarfs, Space and Peter Pan (personal fave) and then enjoy the party festivities.

Monday:
Wake up and get ready to leave (unfortunately :( ) but we aren't flying home until 7 so we will make the most of our time by going over to EPCOT and using some FP's at Test Track and Spaceship Earth. I may even make one for a character meet and greet since he has never done that before and I think it would be fun, for me at least! Lol. Then head back to the hotel and hop on the DME and head back home :(

So those are my plans as of now! I have drove myself crazy trying to find an open room I needed something else to do for a while so I typed this up but now I will be going back to the DVC page and keep refreshing until something pops up!

Glad to hear things are working out!!! Enjoy the planning. It's what gets me most excited about the trip. To be honest, I think I'm hooked on the planning just as much as on the actual trip "home" ... which is why I started planning our Jan 2016 trip about 7 months in advance!

Me too!! I am already thinking about a springbreak trip for my 21st birthday but I am not sure. I would like to do a mother/son trip and hope I can work that out. Planning a trip is about as fun as being there like you said! But being there obviously takes the cake!!

I totally agree :) For the October 2016 trip we also have a dining plan, maybe more planning for us as well :)
