You guys have been a great help to me for planning this trip but I have a few more questions.

1. Does DL have a TTA/people mover?
2. Do the FP for TSM run out a half hour after the park opens like in WDW?
3. I'm going from May 29th to June third what rides will be closed in DCA, I should assume Orang Stinger but what else?

4: what are crowd levels like during this time, I will be there for 5 days will I be able to get everything done at a nice moderate pace or will I have to rush?

FIVE DAYS??? OMG, five days is way more than enough time to see EVERYTHING at a very leisurely pace. In fact, you can easily see and do everything at DL in two days. DCA barely takes half a day to do everything. So basically, you can do everything in half the time that you will be there. I would definitely add more Southern CA attractions to your agenda with that much time. You should check out Knott's, Universal, and maybe try to get into a taping of a show. Have fun!

you will be able to do everything at a nice moderate pace without having to rush. Five days isn't ridiculously long, no matter what the previous poster says. 2 days for DL, DCA 1 day, the extra days come back and ride everything you might have missed or your favorites. I know plenty of visitors who spend 5 days just at DLR, even longer than that sometimes.

1. No, not for 9 years (if you count rocket rods)
2. TSM doesn't have fastpass here.
3. Aside from the Orange Stinger, I don't think anything else will be closed in DCA. Only Paradise Pier and the start of the new entrance is being worked on this year.
4. In all honesty, packed (not necessarily wall-to-wall, but a decent sized crowd). It has been insane over the past couple of weeks and lines are starting to get longer and longer on the weekDAYS, when the park is usually the least crowded.

You're going to be there for 5 days. Take it nice and easy, and you'll get everything done. As the old saying goes, "Disneyland can't be done in a day".

Hey agent86, have you been to the DLR lately? There is no off-peak season anymore. With the birthday promotion, the 2fer, and the upcoming Summer Fun Pass, people are going to be packing it in. 5 days is the perfect amount of time to do everything in the resort.

I've been going to Disneyland my whole life. Not once has 5 days been even remotely necessary in order to see everything, even at it's most crowded. If it's so crowded that 5 days is required, then I would say that's unpleasantly crowded. Of course, there have been plenty of times when I've been to DL and found it incredibly crowded, while across the way at DCA, you could fire a cannon and not hit anyone.

Fair enough, but because of the 2fer, DCA is getting all the people that had already gone to Disneyland. And because DCA doesn't have enough rides to eat up the people, ride wait times are abnormally long.

So basically, it doesn't require 5 days because there's "so much to see and do there", but rather it takes that long because of all the waiting and standing in line that the guests are going to have to be doing. See, that to me is what I consider unpleasantly crowded. The parks aren't fun anymore when it's that crowded. It takes away a lot of the magic, and you're spending way more time just waiting than you are actually getting to do stuff.

Please don't misquote your fellow forum members. I didn't use the term "ridiculously long" (that's putting words in my mouth and trying to make me out to sound argumentative). What I said was that 5 days is "way more than enough time".

2 days for DL, DCA 1 day,

2 days for DL is a reasonable amount of time to see and do everything. DCA does not require a full day, unless it is unreasonably crowded as another poster mentioned. But then you're spending all your time waiting. DCA, quite frankly, is a park that is not all that worthwhile to visit even when it's NOT crowded. A crowded day at DCA would be a waste of time, to be honest.

the extra days come back and ride everything you might have missed or your favorites.

I love DLR, don't get me wrong. But after 3 days, trust me, there isn't going to be anything that you've missed. I would spend those extra days doing something different. If the OP's objective is to just make the trip about Disney and nothing else, then I would save money and cut the trip short. You won't need that extra time if all you're doing is spending it at DLR.

My Lord, where do I begin? As someone who has been visiting the DL resort for almost 40 years, I am completely disgusted to hear advice that says " if you want a trip about Disney only, don't stay longer than 3 days, save some money and cut the trip short."

Agent86. Are you going to Disney to just "see things" ? If so, sure, you could probably do that in a half day. The whole resort!! But I don't go anywhere to just "see things". I tend to try to experience them. ESPECIALLY at Disney Parks!

While DL certainly is not the gigantic realm that is WDW. There's plenty to keep a REAL Disney fan in a magical state of mind for more than 3 days. The whole resort is dripping Disney. Whether you're staying in them or not, the Grand Californian and Disneyland hotel are fantastic places to visit and soak in the Disney atmosphere. Downtown Disney is a blast to have some meals, drinks, shop, see a movie or just hang out in.

A real Disney fan will not rush through California Adventure in less than a day. Relax, enjoy the details. My god!! That's what sets Disney apart!!! Otherwise just go to Six Flags or a zoo somewhere.

Even though I go 3-4 times a year, I could easily spend a week at the DL resort tomorrow and have a total blast!!

Enjoy your trip Figment! Take your time and soak up Disney's West Coast Magic and I guarantee you'll be sad as you're leaving(not unhappy you didn't leave earlier)

"Completely disgusted"?? :veryconfu Wow, is this how you always react when someone has an opinion that's different from yours? "Disgusted"?? Really?? Ummm....okay. :lookaroun

Agent86. Are you going to Disney to just "see things" ?

Nope. Not sure how you got that impression at all from anything I've said. Perhaps you were taking the word "see" literally and assuming that refers to just literally walking around looking at things. I didn't think that using that term was confusing, but let me state it more clearly just in case... 2 days is plenty of time to experience all of the attractions at DL. Half a day is plenty of time to experience all of the attractions at DCA. The only thing that would require more time would be if the parks were unreasonably crowded. In that type of situation, I wouldn't want to be there anyway, because it would take away from the magic to be spending the bulk of your time waiting in lines. After all, then you'd just be "seeing" things. :hammer:

A real Disney fan will not rush through California Adventure in less than a day.

A real Disney fan wouldn't consider DCA worthy of the Disney name. :D

Boy, you're right agent86. I'd sure rather be waiting in line for a pathetic network sitcom than enjoying a 4th day on Disney property!

I get the feeling you're the type who wanders around with a list of "attractions" and checks them off as you go. (I did that too ...............................when I was like 7.)

Here's some advice from a true Disney Parks Connoisseur. Try sitting on a bench anywhere on Disney property, relax, and just enjoy the whole atmosphere, trust me, if you really love Disney, you'll be happy!!!

But it's you're attitude towards DCA that tells it all. While DCA is certainly not at the level of Disneyland park, or for that matter, any of the parks at Disney World (that may change in the next couple years), it's still a Disney park loaded with Magic. To rip it and say it's not worth a full day for a TRUE DISNEY FAN is ridiculous. The worst Disney park on earth is still one of the best places on the planet!!

If you'd rather spend time at Universal Hollywood, enjoy Bart & Homer. Or maybe hit your local state fair, I HEAR THEY HAVE LIKE 30 RIDES!

I think someone could use a Prozac right about now. :animwink:

My goodness, the OP came here for some straightforward advice and you're turning it into a personal battle with me... just because I have a different opinion than you do over how many days one should spend at the park (DL) and the half a park (DCA). Do people ever tell you you're a bit extreme?

If I can steer this back on track :lookaroun

Figment, have a great time. We had a full day and 2 half days at DL and it was a nice amount of time to see what we wanted to see without rushing from place to place. Keep in mind we had a 2 year old with us so that included riding several rides 3-4 times and waiting in long lines to meet pixies and princesses. If it had been adults only, we could have done much more in a lot less time, so you definitely will be able to do everything you want to do. We never got around to DCA- maybe next time. Have a great trip!

No more personal attacks, please. There's room for more than one opinion in here.

The Grand Californian was beautiful! We didn't stay there, but we passed through many times from our hotel across the street. I loved the feel of the place.

It's all good! I suppose I can get a little overly excited when I get the impression the DL resort isn't getting it's due.

It's funny, living in Southern California, it's usually WDW I feel the need to defend because many think there's no reason to visit because Disneyland is so close.

Agent86, I know you're a big fan of DL and apologize for questioning your park enjoyment strategy.

Have a great time Figment!! I'll be at the DL hotel that same week. Will be a Magical time!!!

Apology accepted, and no worries at all. I certainly understand what it's like to be passionate about something and I, too, often express myself with enthusiasm, which doesn't always come across in writing as it's intended.

FWIW, I certainly didn't mean to imply, or give the impression, that spending 5 days at DLR was ludicrous or that Figment would be bored to tears by the end. I just meant that 5 days was not necessary in order to see the whole resort, and that Figment might want to use that extra time to explore some of the other things that Southern California has to offer.
