Doc's office just called and the 24-hour culture came back positive. My 4yo daughter has strep. They said she is able to go and would not be contagious after 24 hours. That's a little relief. However, I have decision and info needed:
1. I can give her a new antibiotic shot that will wipe it out completely in 24-36 hours. It is a painful shot that is in her back cheek for about 30 seconds. Not easy on a 4 year old.
2. Amoxicillin or Augementin for 10-14 days. Not a big issue. The main concern is getting a liquid prescription on the plane in my carry on. This is easily more than 3 oz. Any ideas of what I need to do with TSA on this one? I am going to TSA website to look as well.
3. Z-pack. They don't like prescribing it because it is for serious illnesses that do not go away quickly with other antibiotics. However, I do not want her trip to get ruined because of it. This is my first choice if at all possible from the Doc's office.
