Leaving things in strollers

I find it utterly incredible how many people leave their belongings on their parked strollers. Things from camera cases, to articles of clothing, and I even saw a CAMCORDER sitting in a stroller in front of The Land at Epcot on Saturday. HELLOOOOO???

Coversely, I find it amazing (and sad for the kid) when a mother brings a 10-year old grown child in the bathroom with her at WDW because she's afraid of "crazies" if he goes potty by himself, LOL. But, to that mother (even if I personally feel it may be damaging to the child) it's a real concern. Everyone is going to have a different idea of safety.

It just comes down to what people are used to. I lived in a neighborhood growing up where no one locked their doors ("Locks only keep honest people out" as my Grandma would say) but everyone who comes to WDW comes from some place different.

I agree, I have found it odd when I see cameras and stuff sitting right in a stroller with no owner in sight - I'd like to hope it's safe, but I bet a lot of times it's not.

Heading for the great escape.
Did I not see a tip where someone suggested leaving a used nappy in one of those sanitary bags tide to the stroller.

Mmmmmmm delightful on a summers day.

Not that I leave anything in our stroller when I go on a ride, but I like the fact that other people feel safe and secure at WDW. It means they are in a relaxed place and feel trust among other people. Always a positive thing IMHO, whether you want to call that naive or not.

It's easy to always assume the worst of your fellow human being, but the simple fact is: there are more GOOD people than BAD people out there. We've been brow-beat into being afraid due to the minority of bad people out there.

The only way to turn back the clock is for people to be brave and have trust in their fellow man. Granted, some people are going to get burned in the process, but anything that is worth something involves risk.

Geesh, I sound like a seminar.

well, I am BOTH of those people!! LOL!! I do leave things on my stroller simply because I have enough to worry about on rides w/ 4 kids. Usually it is just a bag w/ pull-ups, change of clothes and snacks/water, but I have left my camera and store purchases on it, too. I just like to think people are somewhat honest at a place liek Disney :p

I also have a 10 yr old daugher and a 9 yr old son and I have JUST begun letting them go into the bathroom alone at certain places. It is a sad, scary world and you hear all kinds of stories and I do not want my children to be one of those stories!! But then..are you referring to the bathroom stall?? I am not THAT bad

Things in strollers

I am very new to the forum, but this is a very good topic. I live in a very small town where we not only do not lock doors, we very rarely close them (except in the winter). I have been going to WDW for 23 yrs, and I have always admired the trust in the guest that come to WDW. If you can't trust people to leave your belongings alone in a stroller in WDW where can you trust them? I think we all are just very conscious of the goings-on in the world today and expect the worst. Me, I'd rather think that my fellow guest's are as honest and trusting as myself. IT'S Walt Disney World for goodness sake. Be happy !!!

We never leave anything of true value (cameras, wallets, etc.) in strollers but feel comfortable enough to leave a backpack full of other things like clothes, fans and diapers (feel free to take any soiled ones if you'd like.....) without fear of losing them. Never had a problem and hope we never do.

I've left stuff in the stroller before. I use the "What would ruin my day were it stolen?" criteria. A whole bunch of stuff, like sunscreen, rain ponchos, or water bottles could be stolen, and I really wouldn't care. My camcorder or my son's autograph book, on the other hand, would make the day far less magical were they to be taken. Those items come with us on the attractions every time.

At least they're not leaving their kids in the strollers.
We tried it with the M-I-L last trip and she was always there when we returned
I. like everyone else am amazed at what gets left in / on strollers and wheelchairs - anyone on here work in lost and found, what sort of items are reported stolen from Disney on a day-to-day basis ? I think some people are just too trusting (or plain stupid)

That is pretty much the same criteria that my wife and I use when leaving things in the stroller.

Ditto above. If I REALLY don't want to ever loose it, I take it with me but if it is something I can easily replace like diapers, clothing, etc I leave it. I can't carry everything on every ride that each of my three kids require that would be insane. But cameras, camcorders, etc always come with me those are too expensive to constantly replace.

I look at it as this. I don't rent a Disney stroller, I take my own double stroller. I have NO choice but to leave that stroller parked there. And trust me that stroller is much more expensive than the stuff in the diaper bag I leave so if someone really wanted to take something of value it would be the whole darn stroller. Now THAT would tick me off!

I've never worried about the things I leave in our strollers, but I admit I have worried about losing a stroller. Fortunately, I've never had anything stollen during the many trips I've made to WDW over the past 30+ years. I can't say the same for the outlets. We had an el-cheapo umbrella stroller stollen in May. Ironically, I wasn't overly sad to lose it since my 2.5 yo dd had dumped an entire bottle of sunscreen in the seat earlier in the day. It was disgustingly greasy, so I doubt it ever came clean. Since we were on our way home, losing it also made for more room in the van.
