Hi all,

We are headed to WDW on Tuesday and haven't been there in several years. A few questions:

1) We wanted to bring water bottles with us to cut down on buying water in the parks. Do the parks allow you to bring water into the parks?

2) Other than our iphones, magic bands & potential water, is there anything else that is a must to bring to parks? We were hoping NOT to carry a backpack with us to the parks but afraid I'm overlooking something! We are a family w/kids 13 & 8.

Thank you for your help.

1. Yes
2. I would still bring wallets (or iPhone wallet cases) with your ID and some cash or a credit card just in case something happens with the MBs.
We also bring a little baggie with ibuprofen, cough drops, tissues, and hand sanitizer. All that could go in a small purse or deep pockets. No kids here though, so you may need other things for them that I'm not thinking of :)

Water-Yes

Bring backpacks with water and snacks, you wont want to pay Disney prices for food other than meals (And special snacks like Dole Whips or Mickey Ice Cream) You'll also probably buy souvenirs to put in bags. If you just bring a drawstring bag it shouldn't be an issue (And you can use the 13 y/o as a pack mule)

Oooh good call w/the small baggy of ibuprofen - great ideas everyone - thank you! Do they have little cubbies before each ride to store waterbottles? I can't remember!

a charger battery. If you will be using your phone as your camera, you will probably burn through your battery.. a portable charger is helpful, and there are small ones that don't take up a lot of space or you can get a larger one that has more charging capacity. I have a larger one that is a bit thicker than a phone, and has the capacity of about 5 regular batteries, and can charge 2 devices at the same time.. I also have one that is much smaller that is about equivalent of 2 batteries.

I also always have a qt sized zip lock bag to keep things dry that need to be on splash mountain, if it rains, etc.. you can even use your phone while still in the bag.

Cargo shorts are the way to go.. you can carry what you need without needing a bag.

YedliW, you are so right re: the cargo shorts. My husband has two pairs and he told me, "don't worry about a backpack, I will carry everything in my shorts!" LOL. Thanks - yes, will bring a charger w/us. Good idea.

Mary, here is a slightly funny story regarding cargo shorts. I work in law enforcement, and although you cannot tell by my avatar, I have the typical cop haircut. Anyways, I had my credentials (looks like a bulkier rectangular wallet) in my left thigh pocket. As I pass the bag check, another CM asks me what was in my pocket. I told him they were my credentials. He asked if I was military or LE and I told him. He then proceeds to ask to see them. Long story short, the CMs may get suspicious if his pockets are too bulky. Have a great trip!!

Definitely bring a backpack or a messenger bag. As much as I totally understand you not wanting to carry a bag, no one is going to want to hold onto the water bottles. Plus you may want to bring ponchos with you just in case. I had 4 in a gallon size ziploc bag that my 18 yr old son carried in his pack. Even though we only needed them for one day, the entire family was glad that I had thought ahead to bring them.

Most important thing to bring with you is a good attitude. Leave negative thoughts at home.

The previous responses are good but here's one to consider - bring some uncirculated pennies and quarters in case you see a pressed penny machine that looks good to you. They make great mementos.

Thank you all for the great ideas and reminders! To Retroman40, absolutely re: the good attitude! It makes a world of difference no matter where you travel. Thanks again everyone.

Get a charging case for the phone. Better than having a phone plus a second battery and it can double as a case / screen protector.

I have brought bottled water into the parks with me before, however it does weigh down a backpack quite a bit. Disney gives out free cups of ice water in all the parks at quick service restaurants. When I've gone lately, I have decided to keep the weight off my shoulders and just ask for a cup of ice water at any of the restaurants. Just did this a few weeks ago while waiting for the parade. I walked into Pecos Bills and asked for 2 cups, and it wasn't a problem. Also, they already had several cups of ice water already prepared sitting in a small fridge behind the counter, so it was quick and easy. The tap water at Disney tastes okay compared to the typical tap water you get at most places in Florida.

There is also Cool Zone at EPCOT.. if you don't mind drinking shots of soda.. :)

True! Definitely hit up Club Cool while in Future World at Epcot! Be sure to try the Beverly drink, it's yummy! Lol. My son loves the Bibo drink. I was happy to hear they now sell Bibo at Harambe Marketplace in Animal Kingdom, although I have yet to buy one there.

Also a heads up at Epcot, that the kiosks for Food & Wine Festival probably will not have the free cups of ice water since they don't have tap water there I don't think. However, any of the quick service restaurants around World Showcase do.
