We are leaving in 3 hours to stay at the Contemporary. 4/15. Very excited as are my Granddaughters who are coming with us. One quick question. Does anyone swim in the lake at the beach at the Contemporary? I seen videos of the pool and stuff but I have never seen anyone swim in the lake. Just curious or is it mainly for boating?

Thanks
Kevin

No swimming in the lake. The beach area is cool for recreation, but swimming in the lake is frowned upon. You won't need to anyway...the Contemporary pool is awesome! Have fun. I'm extremely envious!

Flight cancelled out of Newark due to high winds.... Can you believe it !!!!! Jet blue worked great with us. Got us all on a flight tomorrow morning and Disney extended our stay one day at the Contemporary. So instead of Tuesday to Tuesday, we are now Wed to Wed... no biggie. Have to juggle some dinner reservations but it is all good ...

You are very lucky!!! Have a wonderful time.

True, but they only eat the brain. Alligators eat the whole thing. . .
I know you're kidding, but I can't find anything about someone dying in the water near Disney World by an alligator, but someone did die from the amoeba when River County was still up and running. I remember hearing a recent case of a boy who died too swimming off property in a lake that feeds or gets fed from a river or another lake at wdw. It has a less than 3% survival rate. Scary stuff, but I guess you're still more likely to get hit by a truck.

Here's your WDW Bay Lake gator! Just off the boat dock from Fort Wilderness. Gators are no joke!
