Leave a legacy tile-worth it?

I was looking for opinions on the value of a legacy tile at Epcot.

My wife is VERY preganant and wants to immortalize our new child's "first" trip to WDW. However, if I'm correct, aren't the pictures face shots only? Will a full lenth "belly" shot be visable?
thanks:animwink:

they will do face shots only but that is a very good idea although if they did a wider shot you faces wouldn't be visible. the detail of the etching on the tiles isnt detailed enough to show your faces if they are part of a full shot .

i think it worth it just to get one anyway though

I've debated getting one of these time and time again.

I've yet to buy one though.

They are just too darn small and the detail isn't all that great.

I was lucky enough to get a Walk Around the World Brick in 2000.

If I didn't have a Brick, I would probably get a Leave-A-Legacy tile just so I would have something that my kids could visit years into the future.

There was a rumor floating around that the monoliths on which the tiles rest were going to be removed. If you look on them there is so much free space I get the impression that they are not the big hit Disney management hoped for.

If they were ditched I would feel sorry for everyone who forked out for a tile, but would not be sorry to see them go as they do ruin the look of the entrance. (Not as much as that damn hand though!)

My wife and I (and also my parents) had one done. Everytime we go to EPCOT we check it out and move on. I am still glad we did it because if they keep them around forever, my children (and grandchildren) can see us and my parents on this plaque. Again, not too detailed, but something else for Disney to try to make a few bucks.

I didn't think they were worth it until my boyfriend insisted, then 2 days later he proposed and said he wanted to do it as a memory of our engagement!

This past trip my friends had a free one that came with their package. We did it one night (in a hurry, we always were, lots to fit in you know.) We got stuck behind this family who had their pictures taken and retaken about 20 times. It looked the same each time. I was about to kill them, (or at least give really dirty looks.) My friend got up there, took one picture, said that is fine lets go. We were off to Garden Grill in 3 min. Don't get stuck behind those type of people.

I wish I had done a walk way stone back in the start when you could get one on MK. Not one all the way in the back of TTC.

At first, I didn't see much of a point to Leave a Legacy, except to make money, but I have to admit that after making mine it is kind of nice to see yourself permanantly (well, for at least 20 years) in Epcot.

I think Leave a Legacy has a deeper meaning if you have a tile made for a special occasion, just as others have mentioned. I had mine made on my 17th birthday, so until I'm 37, I can go back there, possibly with my children, and show them. That is something that makes that $25 worth while.

I was thinking the same thing...there's alot of room there for something more...but if they were to remove anything, they would have to place them somewhere else...people paid money for those tiles, so I doubt they'll just get rid of them....that would go beyond wrong if they did....

The space could be used for an expansion to SSE...for either an indoor queue, an extension of the ride, or a post show...the space could also be used to expand the shops....I don't really know how much the people at Disney are focusing on when it comes to SSE....

As for what I think about Leave a Legacy...well get them if you really want to...but if it were me I wouldn't spend the money on a small tile where you can barely see a face...but thats just me...seeing so much empty spaces though on those things, they are sure to remove them and put them somewhere else...so maybe thats something to think about....any way just my opinion....

When you buy a tile they tell you they are only guaranteed to be there until 2008, at least that's what they told us when we got ours in 2001. They might have extended the 2008 date since, as it looks less attractive now, from a longevity standpoint, though the prices have come down a lot since 2001. Heck its buy one get one free with the 2004 Passholder benifits now, to boot.

I believe the price is why people aren't doing it more. I mean, that's a lot of money for a 1" square piece of metal. If the price were to drop I believe more people would have taken part in this project. I'm sure it would look really cool with all of the stones covered.

As far as a SSE queue area in this spot, I think that would be a mistake. I like the idea of aproaching SSE slowly when you enter and under the globe. A new queue area would mean you wouldn't be able to see the globe as you get close to it. I Also think it would be a bad idea to crowd the main gate with a building. Part of the specticle of the park is entering it.

But that again is just my opinion. Everyone is allowed that. :animwink:

I agree...and I respect your opinion....

But...if it weren't just a building in the way...then it wouldn't be a problem....MK has the train station...why can't there be something similar in Epcot...AK has the Oasis...a bunch of trees in the way...doesn't really affect crowds....In my opinion if they were to do something like I've mentioned (and that was pure speculation on my part)....they would have to do a "pretty" building....hehe

Eh, I'd leave it out. Remember that SSE is the staple icon of Epcot. The Train Station is OVER the gates and doesn't block the Castle when you enter. The Oasis serves are a gateway into the park. Once you come to the bridge you have and unobstuctive view of the Tree of Life.

Also remember that a lot of people get their picture taken right inside the park with SSE behind them. Disney also will do this for you. Putting a building there would be horrible. If they were to redo the post show building it may be better.

I'd still like to see another large fountain put in this spot.

Oh yeah I forgot about the bricks. I remember an unofficial guild calling it the "P.T. Barnum Memorial Walkway."

Hope you get it.

We never did the 'Leave a Legacy' thingy! It's not so much the picture itself, it's those ugly stones they mount them on. Sorry, but those things look like giant Jersey barriers to me. I think they ruin the entrance to Epcot and for the life of me, I can't figure out why it wasn't designed better. I can't support them at any price.

We had ours done in 2000 - the year they came out for the 2000 Celebration - my son was 12. Every year when we go to EPCOT, we stop and take a look. It's fun to see how he's changed. It's a pretty good picture - you can definitely tell it's us. I think it wasn't a waste of money - I like to think of my son coming when he's married and has kids and showing them the picture of us during the Millineum (sp?) Celebration. The only problem is that you can only get 2 images on it, so my husband didn't care and wanted me and my son to do it. It would have been nice if we could have gotten all of us. We've thought of doing one with him and our son but it would be on a different block. (Should have done 2 right off the bat and then they could have been next to each other - I've noticed a few like that). I guess it all depends on what you think is a waste or not. I like the idea of having a memory there that we can look at (or have relatives look at when they go).

Well, it appears that it is not for everyone. I enjoy ours and would jump at the chance to leave some other legacy for my future generations to check out. I spend so much money while I am there that it all starts to blend in. All I know is that VISA is very happy when we go on vacation. (TIP: Buy VISA stocks right before April 26th)

Excellent observation! That is indeed why they are located in those offset positions.

That and if someone can go take some acid and remove my ex-gf from the picture...... :lookaroun
