Alrighty...it's posted. Good work again this week everyone! I really like our concept.

I know we still have an hour or so before the due date, but I'm exhausted. And just wanted to make sure we got it in. If I missed anything I'm really sorry, but hopefully I didn't.

Land 3: Frontierland
Frontierland,_Disneyland_Paris,_France.jpg
Here's where things start to get cooking. At the end of this round, I'll ask the team leader (I assume it's @spacemt354) which two players aren't pulling their weight. (I won't ask you about Basketbuddy, DSquared or Perry, since those two haven't pulled their weight at all throughout the game. So, with that said, there are now eight members left in the game. I assume @Sam4D23 is still in, since he's still part of other things. Correct me if I'm wrong.) Those two will then be involved in an elimination round, and whomever wins the round is safe, and whomever loses is out of the game.

Here's what I want from Frontierland.
  • Detail, complete with a backstory.
  • Two shops, a quick-service restaurant and a saloon.
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. You knew I had to put this sucker in here. You can use the usual mining town backstory, or use an all-new backstory.
  • Frontierland Jamboree. I really enjoy the idea of having all sorts of animals--not just bears--be part of a country-music revue. So, I'd like to see a show that combines the best elements of Country Bear Jamboree with a little bit of America Sings thrown in-between.
  • A whole area devoted to "Song of the South". What I'd like to see here is to take Tom Sawyer Island, and theme it around Disney's forgotten classic Song of the South. I also would like to see Splash Mountain here, too. You can add in a few bits, leave out a few bits, just do whatever you want with that.
  • The railroad station. The railroad will be stopping here; so describe to me the station that the train would arrive in.
And that's it. The project is due on Saturday, December 12th at midnight PST. That's all for now, team. Good luck!

Let's see what we got here.

I say we keep with the nuanced theme of everything we have been doing in the park and create a new backstory for Big Thunder. Perhaps change up the design of it too.

Tom Sawyer Island to Song of the South...that would be interesting, and perhaps Splash Mountain could be on the island itself...much like how BTMR is surrounded by water in Disneyland Paris, and you walk around the attraction, visit the briar patch, and get unique views of the mountain itself.

The Jamboree is also a nice touch, and we could even include holiday overlays too.

And perhaps we will take care of this once we get to Fantasyland...but I feel like our park needs some diversity in our attractions. We've been going E-ticket, show, restaurants for the past few lands. How about some B or C tickets, like a mode of transportation throughout the land? Horse-drawn carriages maybe? Or bring back the Frontierland canoes. Perhaps some interactive elements to include MyMagic+ in...

I'm also picturing the saloon being like a Whispering Canyon Cafe type vibe, where it's family friendly and wild.

Anyway, we got a week and a good team! Anyone have any ideas feel free to shout em out!

The Canoes sound like a good idea, it fits better than the horse drawn carriages.

I claim the Song of the South area, the quick-service restaurant, and a shop to work on. Speaking of Song of the South, maybe we could make Splash Mountain a little different than in other parks.

Just a thought.

It's all yours. Anyone else have any specific interests? I'm up for whatever, just as long as everyone gets what they want to do.

I had an idea of a chanticleer version of the country bears.... More farm animals, more backstory. Kind of like America sings.... But different setting and more elaborate storyline :)

Alright so from what I can see,

Mickeyfan has the backstory and a shop (since we need 2 and other people asked for a restaurant beforehand)

Brer Panther wants a restaurant (perhaps you could do the saloon?)

MonorailRed will take the Jamboree?

IAmNotAHufflepuff has all of the Song of the South area, a restaurant, and a shop.

If anyone else would like to do something, feel free. I'll do whatever is left. I'm good with Big Thunder. And the canoes as well.

Sounds good.

The first thing we should probably tackle is the backstory of the land. Once we get that out of the way, we can develop the remainder of our ideas to match it.

Thoughts?

Good idea.

I know mickeyfan wanted to handle the backstory...but maybe we talk it over as a group first so that we are all on the same page.

The cool thing I like about the Magic Kingdom's Fronteirland (aside from Splash) is that if you look at it from above, it looks like a map of the US.

Haunted Mansion is based on the mansions of Upstate NY. Independence Hall is Philly. As you turn South West you get the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer (Mississippi River). Country Bears (Tennessee?) Then further west you have Peco's Bill (Arizona/Mexico border) And North West you have Big Thunder (Bryce Canyon in Utah)

Splash unfortunately ruins the map by having influences from the South East like Georgia. But maybe in ours we can change up the locations to make it more like a map of the US?

In terms of story, perhaps we focus on the Industrial era and the transcontinental railroad...and the pursuit of the Western Frontier?

I think we should have bridges go over the river to the island. They could be tall enough so you can still get canoes under them, but if we have rafts going back and forth to such a popular attraction it could cause issues.

Oh yeah, rafts would cause a huge bottleneck, especially if Splash was on the island. A footbridge or two sounds like a good plan.

How are we all doing?

For the backstory...I'm trying to think of a way to make it different than other Fronteirlands, but it is tough because they are some of my favorite lands in Disney Parks.

So this backstory is assuming we will have some sort of Liberty Square type land intersecting with Fronteirland and Fantasyland. If Fantasyland is a European type aesthetic, set somewhere in the Middle Ages, what if as the guests walk through each land they are traveling further in time? If Fantasyland is the Middle Ages you then travel to Liberty Square in 1776...and perhaps we could have a small mini-land of Pocahontas and Jamestown as you travel from Fantasyland to Liberty Square, to denote the change in time. It would also be fun to design Liberty Square around Revolutionary Period Boston...and I could get some actual in-person images of historical sites and streets around the city since I'm close, but anyway I digress....

As you walk into Fronteirland from Liberty Square you enter the early 1800s... themed after explorers like Lewis and Clarke and expeditions through newly defined land like the Louisiana Purchase. As you traverse west, you travel further in time to:

The Wild West (mid-late 1800s - Saloon, restaurants, Jamboree, shops),
Reconstruction Era Georgia (mid-late 1800s - Song of the South, Splash Mountain)
Mark Twain era novels like Huck Finn and Tom Sawyer (late 1800s - perhaps what the canoes are themed after)
California Gold Rush (late 1800s - Big Thunder Mountain Railroad)
The Transcontinental Railroad (late 1800s - Disneyland Railroad)

How does that sound? Thoughts?

How about connecting it all to Splash Mountain? Or yet another SEA member? Or make like Paris and connect to Big Thunder? Or even all three. There's a lot to do.

What do you mean by connecting it to Splash Mountain?

I feel like we can tie in SEA somewhere, but since the new queue at WDW for Big Thunder already does that I didn't want to just copy it.

Sounds good. With a basic frame in mind, I can begin working on my projects. Since I will be going to Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party tomorrow (YAY!), I will post my shop later tonight, then post the restaurant and Splash Mountain.

I mean tying all the backstory into Chickapin Hill and Big Thunder. Someone discovered this strange mountain on a remote island across from a mountain full of gold and two rival towns popped up. One a mining town, the other a farming/rural type town. And we can always extend Bulion's reach for that SEA connection.

Sure, let's go with that then.

That sound good to everyone?
