I totally agree that we lucked out.
We've eaten there for lunch a couple times now. It's much more reasonable for lunch and the food is the same quality. I had the hamburger and enjoyed it. My wife had the Cheddar Cheese soup and both of us thought it was to salty. It was probably a bad batch.
It was probably because this is the most overrated WDW restaurant on property. If no one has ever been take my advice. For the price of Le Cellier you can go to cali grill, citricos, yachtsman steakhouse, bistro de paris. All are far superior to Le Cellier.
While I agree with you that it is the most overrated place on property, it is cheaper then the other restaurants you listed. Not a whole heck of a lot cheaper, but still, cheaper.

Signature is for DINNER only. Lunch is still regular. It use to be a bit cheaper, but not anymore it is now a signature dining experience which is a joke.
We were at EPCOT on Tuesday April 5th when it was raining in the morning. We were able to score a walk up to Le Cellier, because people weren't showing up. As my wife said when we were walking up to the reservation desk, it never hurts to ask.
I hesitate to eat anywhere except the resort I am staying or in the parks. I believe Le Cellier is one of the best in the parks. When dining with the DDP my party is already touring resteraunts for a good part fo each day, so we do not normally go to other resorts (no matter how close by) to eat. Epcot specific I agree that Bistro De Paris is better, but that is the only one that is. I have never been impressed with Tuttos. I also think the Brown Derby in HS is good, but not great. It was probably because this is the most overrated WDW restaurant on property. If no one has ever been take my advice. For the price of Le Cellier you can go to cali grill, citricos, yachtsman steakhouse, bistro de paris. All are far superior to Le Cellier.

Oh I know, and it totally makes sense that they use this system. I was eating by myself and wouldn't want to take a huge table up on my own. I just thought it was funny as I didn't think they'd be seated at all, nevermind right away.Incidentally: as to someone walking up and getting seated before you....
WDW Dining divides each property into tables of certain sizes...when you make a dining reservation, you are slotted into one of those size tables.
If you have a party of 4, you will be seated in the next table that seats 4, not 5 or 6 even if those are open. If a party of 5 arrives, they will be seated into that open table that seats 5 or 6....
It's the same reason that you don't necessarily get seated walk-up even as a single...if there are no single/double tables open, you will not be seated even though a group of 4 might walk up at the same time as you and get seated.
They've been using this system at WDW for decades now.
Thanks for that info. We actually skipped Brown Derby last trip and I will now add it back to our plans for this coming Thanksgiving. Has Mama Melrose changed (for the better) since last November? The Hollywood Brown Derby is now great -- it's probably surpassed the others in the past six months to become one of the top three signature restaurants at WDW -- all it takes is a new chef and a few minor changes...
We have other threads on that.
