Le Cellier - Service Slipping?

Hi all,

We ate at Le Cellier on the 13th with some good friends that had never eaten there before. We had hyped up the Cheese soup to them and everyone was quite ready for a treat when the server brought our soups. Imagine our surprise when the soup arrived STONE COLD! One of our friends took a small bit and asked, "Oh, I did not know this was a cold soup.....". I complained to our server and she brought us new soups. I would not make an issue of this except that I spoke with our friends who had gone in May and they said the very same thing had happened to them when they went for dinner! Has this happened to anyone else? What do you think their problem is. Put a bit of a damper on what was to be one of our signature meals with our friends. :brick: The remainder of the meal was very good however.

thanks,

Kevin and Mona

I think you might have just had an odd experience. I eat at Le Cellier at least once a month and I've never had a problem. In fact, my last visit was the best I ever had (we were celebrating my cousin's birthday) and they did a great job of congradulating/embarrasing her. That restaurant holds a special place in my book for Epcot, and I have yet to have a bad experience. I am sorry to hear that your experience wasn't nearly as good, but if you are willing, I would attempt to go back and try again, and hopefully your meal will be better.

We ate there for the first time this past March and had a wonderful meal. I guess you just caught them on a bad day...happens to all of us every now and then. Had they not responded with a new set of soups I would have said something to the manager.

I agree we have always had great meals at Le Cellier in the past but for the same problem to happen to us and another couple, a few months a part is just a bit odd.

Not really when you consider the volume of meals they serve, I'm sure somebody get something on the cool side a few times a month. I noticed that the servers spend a bit of time with each table explaining the different dishes, etc. So if they don't get back in a timely fashion then something is going to be on the cool side, it happens in all restaurants. My problem would be if they didn't replace said item or were nasty about it.

Hopefully, you just hit someone on an off day. We ate there on September 7 and had terrific service and all the food was hot and cooked perfectly.

Our trip this August was for 13 days, during which we had dinner at LeCellier twice. Both featured good to excellent service, and food delivered fresh and hot. A special nod goes to Patrick, our server on 8/19, who provided the absolute best service we had this year.

Service Slipping - No

With a hotel or a restaurant, if you bring up a problem and they do nothing about it, that is when service is slipping.
If houskeeping replaces the burned out bulb and the waiter brings hot soup, I'll enjoy the rest of my day with no hard feelings.

I was worried that Le Cellier would not be the same after the recent refurb...in my opinion, this is the best restaurant on property. I'm glad they didn't get rid of the Cheese Soup.

Just a sidenote on the soup... if you get a copy of the cookbook, "Cooking with Mickey and the Disney Chefs" the recipe for the soup is in the book, and the soup comes out dead on to the one in the restaurant. Of course, it does cost about $30 to get all the required ingredients, but you can have LOTS of soup instead of just a little cup.

Of course, if memory serves me correctly, all you have to do if you want a recipe is ask at the restaurant and they will give it to you. But I do love my Disney cookbook!

Then stop by our Recipe?? thread and join the fun. :lookaroun

The Cheese Soup along with many, many other WDW favorites are there and we always try to get a request posted as soon as possible.

I can't wait to eat there! DH and I wanted to eat there in 2003 but didn't have an ADR (I'm sure we could have walked in, but we were on a budget and was out of our price range.) This time, we have an ADR and DH and I are excited about eating there.

It's not valid to question whether service is slipping for an entire restaurant based on one experience with one item with one server. For whatever it's worth (not much), we received great service at Le Cellier last Wednesday, from a CM from Vancouver BC.
