Laundry service

I see that our resort, Port Orleans Riverside,
has a laundromat of sorts by the pool. That sounds pretty good!

Wanting to "pack for 5 days, go for 10 days" means we'll need to do that.

I also see they have a laundry valet service. Stuff a bag full of laundry,
and get it back all clean.

What I can't find, is a price for that service. Does anyone know what that might be, for the valet laundry?

I suspect it's crazy expensive, but would like to know.

Thanks!

I would love to do that too! We are driving down from Maine, so by the time we get there, are clothes will already need to be washed. Would love to have someone do it for us instead of wasting time and doing it myself.

I don't recall the exact prices, but it's MUCH more than your typical laundromat charges at home. In fact I'd say that it borders on one of those things in life where "if you have to ask the price, you can't afford it"... We're talking $5-$8 for a T-shirt...

EDIT: Found prices listed in an article online:
http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1946952/doing_laundry_at_walt_disney_world_pg2.html

Shirts - $6
Pants - $7
Blouse - $6
Golf Shirts - $4.50
Shorts - $6
T-Shirts - $4
Panties/Undershorts/Socks $2($6 minimum)

5% Environmental fee
Toddler clothing 25% discount

Anecdotally, in all my years of reading various Disney forums, I've only ever heard of *one* family ever using the service, and they got it for free by Disney in a Guest Recovery situation where something had happened to their clothes and they all needed cleaning.

We always do our own laundry while we are there. If you are spending some time by the pool just bring your clothes since the facilities are so close this way you are not wasting time. You just have to spend a few minutes throwing your clothes in the dryer. Another helpful hint that works for us I always pack a collapsable laundry basket. As for detergent this year we are going to try the Purex 3 in 1 sheets ( I'll buy them at them at home and pack) instead of spending so much there on the individual detergents which I believe are powder anyway and I really don't care for.

have a great time!

Eegads, that is expensive--thanks for finding that out!

Yup, it's gonna be laundry at the pool--which sounds just fine to me!

Thanks for the tips on the 3 in 1 sheets, that sounds great as well.
I didn't know those existed.

I hate lugging suitcases around, so this minor trip to the laundry
will be well worth it, IMO.

I'll be doing laundry by the pool in, oh, about 67 days, and I've never
looked forward to doing laundry so much in my life!

I'll second and third the laundry sheets, I just returned from 3 weeks of travel ( not WDW :(), and they worked great. You can put several in a zip-lock and not take up hardly any space.

I did laundry for my family back in December (usually end up doing at least 1 load in a 5-7 day stay, especially since we traveled with babies and didn't want clothes ruined by stains that sit for a long time.) I just plan to hit the pool if I have laundry to do. It's about $2 to wash and $2 to dry, we stayed the the POR and the clothes were dry in half the time it said, it was great. I always take my own detergent, I have a little toiletry size bottle of detergent that I take with me, gives about 2 loads of wash. I had also gotten from the dollar store a bottle of All that washes 5-6 loads of laundry, not a big heavy bottle at all, and I went through about 1/2 of the bottle in 1 trip (wash for 3 adults and 3 children under 2 yrs old for a week)

Disney did our laundry once because of a series of mishaps with our room, "crazy expensive" is an understatement. It was easily $300-500.

Laundry is the perfect poolside activity. Have a great time!
