Late October trip and mnsshp?

Hello! First I want to say thanks to everyone that posts on this forum. There's so much great information to help plan a trip to Disneyworld! This is my first post, so here goes...

I'm looking at a 4-5 day trip to Disneyworld before a convention I have in Orlando (not at a disney resort). So the idea is to get there before my convention and enjoy Disneyworld and stay at a Disney resort then move to my convention hotel. I will have my son and a friend (both late teens) and DH with me for the DW portion of the trip. My biggest questions have to do with scheduling in and around the mnsshp events.

Right now I'm looking at either arriving October 29th or 30th. If we arrive on the 29th, maybe do the mnsshp on that date. If not, the other two available dates are October 31 and Nov 1. I figure the 31st is probably one of the earliest to sell out due to it being on halloween and on a weekend. Would October 29 or November 1 be a better date for the halloween event?

Since we probably will only have a 4 day park hopper, I thought it would be great if we got in on the 29th and did the mnsshp that evening, then the next 4 days at the parks using hopper. That does leave us with 2 dates where MK closes early for 2 nights while we are there.

So which date do you suggest for the mnnshp? Suggestions on negotiating the parks on the other days? How busy is MK in general on halloween weekend?

Yeah you'll be able to dress up. The risk Disney runs is that someone looks "too good" and becomes a distraction to other guests, burdening the real cast members and that guest. I was there one year with a Thor that I swear could have honestly been Chris Hemsworth walking around. The guy was being pestered to pose for pictures all night long. He was a good sport about it but I can see how that would become an issue for park operations.

There is no risk we will look that good, LOL. I completly understand why disney have the rules. At the paris halloween party last year there was an amazing Rapunzel with light up hair. We're still not 100% sure she wasent a cast member. We did chicken out of dressing up so determined to do it this year :)
