Samsung Galaxy S4/5 and the Sony Xperia's have far better cameras that an iPhone. They also come with a massive benefit that your not buying to the evil Apple and their walled garden ecosystem.
Better still, a decent standalone camera. I am a big fan of the travelzoom category cameras, huge zoom (20x-30x optical) and excellent quality photos (compared to a mobile phone anyway). Not exactly DSLR quality, but they don't make you look like a Japanese tourist either or run down you mobiles battery life.
