Last Minute Snag - Need Help ASAP

Want to give my wife a piece of jewerly for our anniversary during our trip. However, I don't want to take it with us either checked luggage or carryon. I can't ship it to the hotel. I can't really have it sent to a local FedEx location as I won't be able to separate from my wife without arousing her suspicion. Any ideas or do I need to somehow take it with me?

Depending upon how big it may be, would it be something that would fit in your wallet if positioned right. This way, you'd put the whole wallet in the tray that goes through the xray machine. Then you could just pack the box, some wrapping paper and tape in your suitcase.

I second the wallet idea.....I transported my financee's engagement ring to D.C. that way last December.....

It will depend on how large it is.....whatever you do, don't try to hide it in your shoe....all shoes are being checked at all airports (from what I hear)....

If you do use your wallet, as soon as you are through security you can excuse yourself to the bathroom and put it into your pocket....

Most jewelry stores will give you tiny plastic ziplock bags to help...

Toe ring it inside your shoe...

If it is somethinga little larger than a ring, you could purchase an xray bag for camera film. Of course, if your not taking a film camera with you, it might be kind of hard to explain to the wife. Unless, you ask her to go ahead and look for your gate while you get the carry on's through security.

Put the box in your camera bag and dont let her carry it. I did this last October and she did not have an idea I had it until I would not let her near the safe in the room. Don't put it in your shoe! Not only will it smell bad but you may find your self on the recieving end of a body cavity search at the airport! Good luck let us know how you make out.

Can't take it carry-on in case they search the bag.

There must be something in your luggage that the Mrs won't have a need to rummage through - how about your toilet bag? Or maybe secrete it in some rolled up socks?

Thanks for all your suggestions. The jewerly is a wedding band for her to wear when she does not want to wear her engagement ring and matching band. I found a place to put it in my wallet. The plan is to give it to her during a carriage ride at Fort Wilderness - I just made the reservation. Wish me luck!

You should devise an elaborate system of pulleys and wenchs to distract your wife at the security checkpoint. Once distracted, place the peice of jewelry in a miniature hot air balloon manned by genius mice.

Instruct the mice to follow the airducts to above your assigned gate and wait for your signal. "The hippo crows when the yeti yoddles" will be your signal.

At this time the mice will radio (oh, i forgot...the mice need radios) the gate agent to the ticket counter. The gate agent will contact the baggage attendants and your luggage will be destroyed.

While the gate agent is telling your wife about the destroyed luggage you can have the jewelry lowered from the hot air ballon via a paperclip chain to your hand at which time you can place it in your pocket.

Or you can do the tiny ziplock bag in your wallet...

What? :lookaroun

Yes, of course they do. They are genius mice working for the TSA. I wouldn't want to suggest anything that violates air travel restriction. Otherwise, I would have suggested hiding in a paper bag full of toothpaste.

Maybe I shouldn't post about this while I'm in an airport...

Fed-Ex to the hotel you're staying at. Call before the flight leaves and tell them to expect it. They could give it to you when you check in as something that a friend sent.
