last minute resort bookings

I was wondering if anyone has got any advice as to the availabilty of discounts for last minute bookings, as in within a week. It always seems that we can get good deals on flights at the last minute, but I'm curious as to wether Disney do specials at their hotels if i was booking within a week.

If so who do i contact?

Has anyone done this? And if so what kind of deal have you got?

Cheers

Hey SIRE!!!

I've made some pretty last minute reservations at WDW with no problem.

Sadly, though, what you save on airfare will most likely be your ONLY savings, as the room rates were only discounted if I had a code of some sort.

The good news is this: More people than you would think actually cancel their reservations at the last minute, so resorts that were "SOLD OUT" a few weeks ago, might actually be available the day you leave!

I predicted this was going to be the case with the current promotion Disney is running. Lots of people booked up these resorts, but will realize it was only wishful thinking and cancel before the penalties kick in, thus opening rooms for people who intend to actually go! :brick:

GOOD LUCK.....and HAVE FUN!!! :sohappy:

It also depends on when your making the last minute reservation. I booked an Orlando vacation for 4 in mid November 2002 for mid December 2002. I got a deal at the Portifino (a Universal Hotel, I know it's not Disney but my mother likes she-she poo-poo hotels) Pay for 3 nights and get the 4th night free. It was $129 per night for a beautiful room overlooking the quiet pool. They also gave us a free room upgrade on arrival because the hotel was by no means fully booked. Turns out the room they put is in is regularly $250 a night! Also, the deal was still available the week we left.

If you go during Orlando's low season, even at the last minute, you can really luck out.

To be honest i dont belive u can get any last minute discounts on Disney resorts, but hey maybe if they havent rented many rooms they might give u a good deal. But what most problably would happen is that they will charge u regular price since they r aware its last min and u dont have to many places to go.

I have read in the unofficial guide book that you can sometimes stop by the AAA near Disney and get good rates on rooms at the last minute depending on how many rooms are available but I have never tried. it.
