Laptop

I have an IBM Thinkpad and was considering bringing it next month on my trip to WDW. I want to upload my pictures to send home to family and friends. I also need to check email for work unfortunately.

Will it be safe in the room if i lock it in the case? :confused:

Dunno if a thinkpad will fit in a wdw resort room safe... Mine did not... so I just locked it in the luggage, before I left every morning, and it was fine. :wave:

I was planning on locking it in my suitcase, didn't think it would fit in the Safe. :)

you may even do what i do invest in a laptop lock, its a wire that goes into a special hole in all laptops that you can esentiall chain it down its great becasue you can use it at like starbucks and leave your laptop on a table an go to the bathroom unless they take apart the table its still there

Lil'mermaid brought hers last year. (its a Dell). We have a security cable & lock and we just put it on the shelf in the closet & locked it to it. After a few days she just started to leave it in the bottom drawer of the dresser. Nobody ever moved it (but us.)

We will be bringing it again this year. She found a local phone number from our company (Frontier Communications), they buy local numbers in tourist cities. It cost 75 cents for every call (WDW surcharge) but air time was charged to out home account.
It worked out well for us. Cheaper than the air time for the cell phones. :rolleyes:

well im in the city crime isnt exactly low. im not leaving my laptop on the table and i dont really want to take it when i ______. makes sense to me

Another consideration is the connection speed from the hotel. I'd probably bring the laptop and downoald onsite. Like you got to much time on your hands anyways...

as a p.s. i may be getting your car in august, thought about budgeting and i think im gonna go all out and get the sti its just so nice weh she purrrs

You should test drive the new Legacy's as well. They're much better daily drivers and have 250hp engines as options. But if you want a fun car, as i did, then grab the Sti. See if you can find a 2004, since there's very little difference from the 2005. Also, join/lurk on NASIOC to gain some ideas on getting the most out of your purchase.

I wanted something fun to drive when i commute btw NYC and Boston, which is pretty frequent.

As far as my original response to your post, i was poking fun at you for being one of those people who "live" in Starbucks with laptops et al. :D

funny yopu mention the legacy because i saw that and i see potential, a few upgrades and taht thing would come pretty close to the sti but im still young i needa young mans car if i end up getting the wrx im gonna end up putting another 2000 into to make it as fast as the sti so why not jsut buy the sti?

i didnt take any offense to the starbucks thing im not one of those people yet, i actually stopped going, desgigner coffe no longer fits my budget with a new baby (subaru) on the way

Get a laptop lock. Now.

That was a big thing for the company I last worked for for our laptop usres - making sure they had laptop locking cables so that the laptops didn't walk away. We would have them stolen right in the office. It's a good idea for anyone who travels with a laptop.

Maybe I'm a bit too trustworthy, but I've brought laptops the last 5 years (12 trips) and left them on the table in the rooms when at the parks. Never had anything happen. If they want it bad enough they will find it or get regardless of where you put it.

Yup.

They same resorts that offer high speed net access in the rooms have wireless internet service in the convention and lobby areas.

This included:
Yacht and Beach Clubs and Beach Club Villas,
Boardwalk Inn and Boardwalk Villas
Contemporary Resort
Grand Floridian Resort
Coronado Springs Resort

I think that's it.

Other resorts are only limited to dial-up
