Hmmm.....I think the Lakers will be the same next season, except Malone will probably retire and Jackson will as well. Payton will probably stay, he'll make $5.5 million next year if he does, and I don't think he'll give up that offer. Kobe, well, he's another story. I've read reports that he may stay if Phil Jackson leaves. If he does consider leaving, I know his teammates will do a lot of convincing to get him back. I just can't see Kobe with another team. The man was meant to be a Laker.
Well, I'd just like to say good job Pistons. You earned that title.
Last night's game was a blowout....though IMO, the crowd didn't look "into it" in the third quarter (the only quarter I watched). I know all the Pistons fans and the people who hate the Lakers were saying our crowd wasn't energetic during the first two games in L.A., but they sure seemed more into it than Pistons fans last night at the Palace.
Oh, and here's a small thing I read about Ben Wallace in yesterday's newspaper:
Pistons center Ben Wallace usually is good for a laugh. On Monday a Detroit television reporter asked Wallace what he had to say to fans already making title celebration plans.
The reporter was looking for Wallace to say something along the lines of, "We still have to win one more game."
Wallace's response?
"Just be safe," he said, well aware of the city's bad reputation. "Have fun. We encourage everybody to come out and celebrate with us, but be safe. You ain't got to burn no houses down, turn over no cars or nothing like that. Especially not my house and car."
I like the man as a player, because he is really good, but that comment right there makes me think of him as a jerk. I mean, if the Pistons lost last night, that wouldn't look good for him........
Alright, I'm done with this thread, so I'll leave it to all the fans of Detroit. Once again, good job Pistons. The Lakers will go all the way next year, so forget chances of repeating.
