Lack of Food & Beverage staff?

Anyone else notice the severe lack of food and beverage staff at the Disneyland Resort? Is this a shortage of staff or a deliberate budget cut?

There are long lines everywhere, even at carts. A cart that would in the past have 2-3 CM’s now has only 1.

Attractions, Security, front gate, etc. all seems fully staffed (which is great!) so I’m wondering if anyone else has noticed this and knows what is up?

This is also why restaurants are typically half full but not accepting walk-ups, leading to a lot of altercations between guests and the hostesses.
Yeah I’ve seen that as well. (The 1/2 full… I haven’t stayed around to listen to the altercations haha).

I mean either way it’s budget at this point. If it’s a labor issue more $$$ fixes that. If it’s a budget cut, more money fixes that as well.

Weird Disney would leave dollars on the table in order to save cents. if I want to give them money they should make it as easy as possible to do. It is like they don't want it.
Exactly. I’m spending less money on food and drinks because I don’t want to wait in these lines.

With the prices at sit-down restaurants you’d think they would want them packed full!

This is something you would expect at Knott's. Where a Season Pass runs under $150, and a Dining Plan a little less than that. But kind of BS for it to happen at Disneyland, where $1,600 doesn't even afford you the opportunity of visiting 365 days, not to mention the further limitation of reservations being necessary.

Funny how they can demand things of their guests, in terms of prices and admission restrictions, but then try to disguise their cutbacks by excuses and lies. Get it together. You've been open almost a year and a half now.

I really think it's continued staffing issues and not just Disney being cheap.

I know in the past they were limited by covid related restrictions of number of people in the smaller DL kitchens. I'm guessing that's no longer a thing, but who really knows.

If every other department is basically operating as normal, than it likely not a matter of it simply being cuts. Cutting people in foods after awhile directly impacts revenue-something that isn't as clearly true for, say, attractions. Sure, Disney would love to save on some labor, but I'm sure they'd much prefer to be able to consistently staff (and thus, fill) their restaurants more.

I’ve worked in fast food back in the day paying for school. The mgr schedules more staff in peak periods ( lunch and dinner rush ) to get the food out quicker to the guests. Clearly it is staffing issues Disney and other places are faced with.

I would think they could sacrifice some of their profits to attract employees and solve the staffing shortages. Unless they don't care about the staffing and guest satisfaction
One way was to loosen the restrictions on cast. Now cast can openly show their tattoos , Disney still giving signing bonuses if I recall in a number of depts.

I mean it was normal to have one person working an ODV cart when I worked there a long time ago. I managed to prep the food and drinks and take cash at the same time. We didn‘t have electronic registers and had to calculate the change in our head. They have it easier nowadays.

Having worked both (not at Disney, but similar situations) I can assure you it takes longer and honestly more brain power with the computers. But my point was on staffing levels which over the entire f&b departments are definitely off.

Mobile order isn’t helping anything. That’s a total disaster in my opinion.

I've seen Knotts open up registers to get orders in. They don't deal with stupid ideas like mobile ordering.

Agreed. I was at Knott’s on a weekend in July and f&b stands were well staffed and I was never scolded for asking where to wait in line. (This morning I was scolded for asking where I should wait if I was ordering food and not mobile order…).
