You'll see a bunch of people who clearly lack common sense, morals and logic everywhere you go. Not just in school but every possible place you can think of unfortunately. There really can't be one source of blame because we can accuse bad behavior based on anything really. (Bad parenting, reality TV, technology, etc). It's certainly gotten significantly worse online where people bully one another and say some very nasty things to each other because it's the whole argument of, "Oh, I'm on the web. I can say whatever I want because people won't know who I am and I won't get caught." The sad thing, most of those online pricks don't get caught and don't pay significantly for their actions, when in reality, they need to pay and pay significantly large. Regardless, some people just don't downright think very hard about what they post and are oblivious about what is taboo to post online. The adage, "Think before you speak/act" needs to be applied to "Think before you post" and most people never follow through with that! I'm not going to get in a whole 1st Amendment debate about freedom of speech, but morality needs to be the trump card for society as far as I'm concerned.
College is not always a better experience than it is high school. It is 1000% true in college that people still do some really stupid stuff without thinking it through. You don't want to be a victim or an instigator of a senseless act so don't be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The only thing I can really say as advice is use negative examples as positive motivation to not be a bad role model and a bad person in general. Don't say you won't be "That bad guy in the news", you need to follow through with your actions you take in life because like Batman says, "It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me." Use your brain and think very hard about every decision you make in life, follow your heart but never disregard what your brain and mind have to say (They go hand in hand and they should), trust your instincts, stay true to your morals and values, and of course, always let your conscience be your guide.
