Lack of Charging stations in Disneyland.

Why are there no charging stations / convenient outlets throughout the Disneyland Resort?

In 2023 this is really crazy for a resort that forces guests to use their app for so many standard activities like park tickets and discounts.

Is there a way to properly bring this to Disney’s attention?

Disney doesn't care about guest experience anymore. I realized this back when mobile ordering was being pushed as how you HAD to order. They want you to have the app and put everything on YOU vs having more CMs and efficient service to their customers.

during our last visit to Avatarland, we walked up to the restaurant and were told at the door we HAD to mobile order... we informed them we couldn't and they told us the line inside was over an hour so mobile order was the way to go. We looked over her shoulder and it didn't look that bad (even knowing the cash registers are in a separate room and it could be full). We said that's ok and she sarcastically said 'Alrghty, your choice'. We walked in and proceeded DIRECTLY to the cash register with NO line at all.

Disney policy is to lie to you and force you to use their new system that is reliant on you vs providing service. Your phone runs out of battery? Mickey simply tells you off.

You only have to pay for the fuel rods ONCE. When they deplete you can either charge them on your own via USB, or trade them in for a fully charged new one at the stations for free.

While I do have my own power bank, I take my fuel rod to the parks because with free trade-in I'm pretty much guaranteed phone charging all day without sitting at a charging station. Time is money for us vacationers.

Who said anything about hating Disney? I love that WDW has thought about guests wanting to charge devices and even have wireless charging at connections cafe.

My question is why hasn’t Disneyland thought about this same issue?

It's a valid point and a good question.

On the flip side, I do think phones are getting better and better at battery life. I have an iPhone 14 that is much better at working a full two days on a charge than even the already excellent iPhone 12 I used to have. Consumer technology will continue to improve, as it always does. But...

If you are going to FORCE people to use their phones constantly in order to spend the day at Disneyland, they need to offer some charging options for folks. Airports have done it for over a decade. Malls do it. Hotels do it. The charging options don't have to be all over the place, but there should be at least a half dozen locations in each park where a customer could spend some time charging their phone.

The only reason Disneyland doesn't do it is because it would cost money, and would be one of those minor things that a TDA and/or Burbank executive would only know about if they actually used the product they sell. This is yet another hospitality and operational failure that proves to me most TDA executives don't actually use their own product (Theme Parks!) and don't know how they operate from a customer perspective (constant use of Parks App is required now to use their parks).

It's a failure of executive leadership.

Disney probably expects a) guests to bring their own portable chargers, which we have several and have made a habit of doing or b) using fuel rods. I've never had a problem the hundreds of times I've been to DL or the handful of times at WDW. I certainly would rather bring my own portable charger than take time out of my day to sit at a charging station.

Well yeah, my iPhonexs had no problem lasting a full day at Disneyland when it was new (and then I had maxpass automatically with my AP so I used the app plenty) but now it needs a charge and the only place I can find is a few random outlets at the Golden Horseshoe. Does give me an excuse to order some cheese sticks from the bar though and listen to the Piano players!

The reason they don't offer it is simple, sure there might be in part a cost factor, but its primarily they don't want hundreds of guest all in one place trying to charge their phone for long periods of time. So it simply all comes down to crowd control. Space it already limited in a lot of areas at DLR where guests get bunched up and cause congestion. Now imagine that hundreds of times worse due to guests trying to charge their phones for long periods of time, it would be a nightmare. Especially if fights break out due to someone "taking too long", and you know they would.

So they provide an alternative if you don't bring your own, and yes there is a one-time fee but it is an viable option and keeps guests on the move:

I was thinking about buying a fuelrod but then I saw that the capacity is around 2600 mAh which is a decent capacity and will give you ample power before needing to swap it out for a new one. The only Con I see is that you have to know where the kiosks are and make sure its not "out of order" and i'm not sure how often those machines are checked throughout the day.

So I ended up taking one of my parents power bricks which has a capacity of 20100mAh. Of course its a bit heavy but it does last the whole day

If you're looking for a good solution to battery life and you have a new-ish iPhone the magnetic battery bricks are really cool. They are like $90 I think but totally worth it so you don't have to mess with cables.
