I found this today: http://www.kongfrontation.com

I'm posting this here since nobody is talking about Universal on any other forum :veryconfu but I'm hoping it actually opens I barely remember Kong anymore :(
I'd like to submit the one video I have but the camera I taped it on doesn't connect to my computer. Tips?

Kong was a great ride for Universal. I truly loved that ride. I really thought it was well. done. A new Kong ride would be great. Wish they would have you go through the jungle and encounter Dinasours before you meet up with Kong.

I never got to ride kong as i've only being visiting uni since 2008, i sometimes watch it on you tube as this attraction is my type of ride, its not a coaster (not for me!) you can get lost in a sitation with anticipation and wonder. Kong himself looked amazing, i would have loved to be sat yards from his face! Scary!

I don't think much of 'disaster' which i believe replaced it. I think the first part with the audience participation is just dull and pointless. Get me on the train! Once there it is cool.

Why did uni get rid of kong, surely it would still be popular today?

This is the one ride i regret never getting to ride.

Revenge of The Mummy actually replaced Kongfrontation. Disaster replaced Earthquake. There is not much difference to that one other than an overlay in theming and monitors with a fake preview and concept of you are filming a disaster film.

Oops, thanks for the correction! :hammer:

i remember both earthquake and kong having very specific smells to them. i'm not sure whether they were put in there, but they smelled amazing. all musty and dirty. it's hard to describe.
however much i do enjoy the mummy, there was nothing quite like coming round that corner and being faced with kong, and then having him 'pick up' your tram and hurl you around. purely amazing.
same with earth quake. i know it's more or less the same at the end (i think) but it wasn't like you were going onto a set originally was it? you were just a load of unsuspecting tourists. shame that they think having audience participation is such a big deal. plus we already know how they do most of this stuff via the 'enhanced features' on dvds. change it back to how it used to be!

Or better yet, gut it and put something worthwhile in there because It was great in 1993 but sucks now!

I believe Disaster still has the same smell (I don't think it is/was pumped in) the only smell I know was pumped in was Kong's "Banana" breath.

It could probably go in Disaster reasonably easily..... I however wasn't that thrilled by Kong 360... Would rather see what Transformers is like and maybe have that in there.

Twister would be a better choice. For one, it is in the New York City section of the park so that makes more thematic sense and there is a decent amount of room to play with there if they make the focus like Kong 360 is.

However Universal Orlando already has similar and superior 3D effects in their parks including Spiderman which blends it the best with live practical scenary and effects, so I would rather have more physical sets for Kong.

I'm pretty sure Universal's "theming" went out the window when they sent "Rip Ride Rockit" tearing through the park.

I don't think they'd hesitate to put Kong where ever was easiest/cheapest/currently has the least popular attraction in it!

Well either way that would still be twister.

I agree with you on the Rip Ride Rockit. how I loathe that. But really. Putting the theming in quotes is interesting to me. The movie properties all used to match their respected areas quite well.

USF still has better theming than DHS, even with Rockit ruining part of it.

As for Kong replacing Disaster, I hate the idea. Disaster is really just a reformated Earthquake, and I don't think closing all of the park's original attractions is wise, especially when there's PLENTY of room to expand rather than replace things. Second, it makes no sense thematically. Going from San Francisco to Skull Island? Sorry, that doesn't work for me. It would just wreak of lazy attraction placement. If they want to add this attraction, they need to do it correctly. However, I believe USF already has enough 3-D attractions as is. Do I want a new Kong attraction? Yes, but only if it's a major dark ride like its predecessor. I believe that's what the IP deserves and anything less is a waste.

Use your expansion space, Universal.

Agreed. Universal always did the studio and magic of movie theme way better than Disney did with MGM. From the Street set details and beyond.

Not sure on what you mean by plenty of expansion space unless you mean over where the old Hard Rock Cafe is beyond Kidzone. There are a lot of dead buildings there that used to house attractions and other things that could be used for smaller attractions though. Like where The Murder She Wrote multi part show used to be.

Regardless, I feel Kong belongs in his 'home away from home' where the climax of every movie takes place...The Big Apple.

I was referring to the very large empty plot of land behind MiB/Simpsons, where the HHN sprung tents currently sit. They need to make a more permanent use of all that space at some point.

That area is a huge spot of land easily big enough to house two more large attractions. I hope someday soon Universal decides to actually build some awesome new attractions out in that plot of land...

As for a new Kong attraction, I too have heard the rumor of it replacing Disaster, but I think that's foolish seeing as how that just recently had an overhaul a couple of years ago. Instead of continually replacing attractions, I think there are enough empty spots to fill. I say place a new Kong attraction in the old Murder She Wrote/Herc Xena building, BUT have the entrance for it facing the New York Central Park area...then it would fit thematically, and we aren't LOSING or REPLACING any attractions.:sohappy:

There's no way the Xena/Murder she wrote building is big enough to do a Kong attraction any justice.

I can't believe that building has sat there dormant for so long.... However it probably isn't big enough to house anything larger than a show.

I do hope they expand into the MIB/Simpsons space AND the old hard rock but I doubt they will I kind of feel if they were going to they would have done so by now.

Have you seen what they are doing in Hollywood to make the Transformers ride? The can always build UP! Take the roof off of that building and go upwards with it! 'Ol banana breath would be at home if they doubled the height of that building! lol
