kirksheppard's Trip Report - DAY THREE - MGM, DOWNTOWN DISNEY, & ERIDE NIGHT

I got up and decided I wanted to do the Great Movie Ride before I left town, so I went back to Epcot with the express purpose of riding what was at one point my favorite attraction. I walked on, with no waiting. TRY NOT TO SIT IN THE BACK OF THE CAR! I couldn't hear the driver at all, and even though I knew the story of the ride, I could barely follow what the gangster and the host were doing. The AA's were still awesome, though.

I then did the Backlot Tour, again with no waiting. As I was walking by, the CMs at Millionaire were begging people to come inside for the next game.

After the backlot tour, my stomach was growling, and I wanted to use my $25 gift certificate at Planet Hollywood. I asked the CM at the exit what my best bet would be to get there and he said to take a bus to the Pop Century and grab a bus from there. I got on the Pop Century bus, and he told me he was actually going to the Animal Kingdom... He suggested Old Key West....

I got on the Contemporary bus, a little frustrated, and went back to my room for a second to sit down in the A/C. I headed back out, sat down at the bus stop, and the Downtown Disney bus showed up immediately. I got very lucky with buses, I must say. Planet Hollywood was neat, and since my food was basically free, I had a good time. I walked around the shops, including the Virgin store, which was huge, and went into Disney Quest. I didn't spend much time here, but it seemed pretty awesome.

I bought my Magic Kingdom DVD and a few souvenirs for folks back home and headed back to the hotel for my daily nap.

I got up, went to dinner at the Concourse Steakhouse and had the ribeye. It was the special for the night, and it wasn't as good as the Prime Rib or the burger. I then went over to the MK to see what I could ride before closing and ERide started. I managed to get in Carousel of Progress, which is an excellent little show and better than I remembered it being as a kid. I also did the TTA, which is one of my all time favorite rides. I don't know why, but I've always loved the PeopleMover. Some jackasses in front of me were goofing around and literally walked from one car to two ahead of it in the dark. I was hoping they would fall and get run over or hit their head on something they couldn't see, but no luck.

I then was going to go ride Snow White, but it was closed, which I found odd... so I went to do Hall of Presidents, but I missed the last show and had to settle for Country Bear Jamboree. Worse than I remember it being, but it was a good time passer before ERide night.

I left and got on Big Thunder Mountain. It seemed longer than I remembered it from Monday for some reason, even though I know it wasn't. Then I did Splash Mountain. The fireworks were going off as we were taxing around and that was cool. I got off and called my best friend back home just to touch base, and did Splash Mountain again. I think its my new favorite.

I walked over and did Winnie the Pooh, just to say I'd done it, and I think they managed to at least make a ride as good as Mr. Toad, which used to be one of my favorites, as well. I did Buzz Lightyear, and called it a night after some shopping in the Emporium.

OVERALL: I managed to avoid the crowds again by going where they weren't and was smart enough to not push too hard in the insane heat (insane for a Cincinnati boy who loves his A/C. :))
