Now if they could just consider a Nightmare Before Christmas attraction..... :
Isn't MK going to get a "Nightmare" Haunted Mansion Holiday starting next Halloween? Or was that the year after? Anyway, THERE'S your "Nightmare" ride (at least for a few months out of the year...finally).

Kingdom Hearts
I'm sure every teenager has at least heard of Kingdom Hearts, and I'm sure every video game nut has played it. But even if you have not heard of KH, the Donald and Goofy sign at the entrance to the attraction should be alluring (along with a respectable wait and Fastpass), and if you've never played it before, I'm sure they'll have a pretty easy-to-digest preshow (unlike Spider-Man, basically one of the only things lacking on that attraction).

But what I don't understand is, why would they place a KH ride at a park that is supposed to be a movie studio? Every other attraction in the park (even Star Tours) has made an effort to convince the guest that the attraction is home to a working studio. How does that fit into the KH theme? And what "other soundstages" do they have backstage besides Millionaire? I thought that the Walt Disney exhibit had occupied the only adjacent soundstage, are there any others back there? Anway, even if there are, it's still going to be hard to put a "Spider-Man" -type ride in just two soundstages and still have room for queue, backstage areas, and the ever-present gift shop. So one wonders what kind of KH attraction would actually go back there. Of course, some people have told me that (with the acquisition of ABC Family) Millionaire will be replaced by a Power Rangers show, which I hope is complete nonsense. But unfortunately, it looks like Millionaire's days are slowly coming to an end (but not yet please!!!)

I think the best thing for Disney to do with the Kingdom Hearts franchise (Oh God hear comes the mob...please don't hurt me) would be to go all-out with the "Spider-Man/Indiana Jones Adventure" theme and either a) nestle it in between the Indy Stunt show and Star Tours (preferable) or b) replace the Great Movie Ride (I hope they don't do this one, but it's the only other logical choice. I know! I like the GMR too! Don't hurt me!). Does anybody remember that rumor a few years ago that they were going to replace the Great Movie Ride with a Villain-themed ride using the new CAVE technology? This new rumor of a Kingdom Hearts ride might have been the evolution of that idea. And it is logical, becuase KH is based on more mainstream (and popular!) Disney characters, but still retains that Villain-esque escapism quality to it. And I assume that the CAVE technology is still primed and waiting to be built. And you could probably give it a theme of "Mickey gets captured by villains in Disney animated movieland" or "While making a movie, Mickey gets captured and you have to go find him" to throw in the movie tie-in. MGM needs an E-Ticket! Bring Kingdom Hearts!

Rockin' Roller Coaster doesn't have to do with movies, and neither does Tower of Terror. MGM's focus has changed slightly, moving from all-movies, all the time to flat-out entertainment. Once it was no longer being used as a live studio, they started adjusting. That is why Kingdom Hearts would most likely work. As far as what other soundstages are back there, there are actually three of them, just not connected. The movie prop walk-throughs (most recently The Haunted Mansion and One Man's Dream) have been in theme. There is a road seperating Millionaire from the other two soundstages, which could easily be built across to combine the two buildings. There is PLENTY of room for a multi-level track and screens, plus all the back stage mechanics needed to run an attraction of that size. And frankly, the only other attraction I would like to see in that area is Maroon Studios, with Roger Rabbit's CarToon Spin.

We shall see though. It's one of the strongest properties Disney has with older teenagers, and to not utilize it in some form would be a real shame.

Actually, ToT does have to do with Hollywood. Just read the big, lit up sign that was struck by lightning. It says HOLLYWOOD Tower Hotel. Also, the story line also has to do alot with Hollywood and their stars.

But the story is modeled after a "lost episode". That's TV, not movies. Just because the story takes place in Hollywood, doesn't mean it's about movies.

I hope this doesn't happen. there's no need for it. Kingdom Hearts is a video game. so it's already got an interactive element. plus I don't want to go to disney world to see Squaresoft characters. when I go on vacation i leave my video games at home...well except for the gameboy advance (one must find somethign to do on that plane ride :))

You're right, both ToT and RNRC are not themed to a "movie studio," but ToT is loosely themed to the movies (Hollywood Tower, Twilight Zone tie-in, Rod Serling says "tonight you are the star), and RNRC is themed to a studio (G-Force Records). No wonder why they're right next to each other!

Actually, the two of the them have parallel stories. The HTH (when it was still open) would actually house the people who were recording music at the G-Force Studios next door. After the incident and the hotel closed, the studios were forced to close as well. However, after the Hotel reopened, G-Force was able to as well, only changing their music speciality. (That is also why the Tower opened before RnRC.)

I thought ToT was a movie... I could have sworn Steve Guttenburg was in it. I remember seeing it on the disney channel all the time but I could be wrong. I will have to check IMDB.

Ive never played kingdom hearts ( I have a gamecube not a PS2!) but it looks awesome. I would be all for a ride themed to it!!

**The following post is from my 6yr old regarding Kingdom Hearts****

kingdom hearts would be a good idea. and Mickey Mouse your town at Disney World is a good place. And it has alot of rides that are fun. I think some of my friends would like to go with me to ride kingdom hearts. And I love you Mickey Mouse.

I think if they did it right, it would be just as fun for people who have never heard of Kingdom Hearts... A nice queue or preshow could set the story up, and maybe even tie it into the movie theme of MGM (a kingdom hearts movie, where real trouble breaks lose? Using the same concept as Hotel Mel (as told by Jim Hill))

Will this ever happen? I doubt it.. But, I think it could be cool... Just, for some reason, I can't see Disney spending enough money to make a really good attraction to put where the sound stages are... Unless they take them out compeleyt, and move them back (to add a courtyard), etc...

I would have to agree that most guests don't know anything about Kingdom Hearts. I worked during Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party at Timekeeper, and when working at greeter we were required to make sure guests knew characters were through one set of doors, candy through another. When I mentioned characters, people would ask who and I'd tell them whomever. When I mentioned Sora, most of the time I got a funny look and had to explain where he was from. It became so noticable that I'd just tell people he's in Kingdom Hearts, and tell them it's a video game.

It's a good idea, but...um...didn't I say that in my post? Oh well, if someone else got the same idea, then it must be good (or at least coincidental).

I want to give this kid a virtual hug. Dude, you are the coolest 6 year-old ever! And Longfamily, you can tell him that I'll go to Disney World with him! We'll even see Mickey Mouse! Now, all I need is money...

Well, I'd be surprised if Disney did this. It would probably require a big outlay to create a real ride. And I'm not sure the Who Wants to be a Millionaire studio is the place, unless you gut the surrounding buildings.
But,
My guys are big Final Fantasy fans and of course, big Disney fans.
They were estatic when this game came out. I was surprised they thought this worked well together, but they did. And obviously many other people did, too.
So, in a bid to capture older kids (and part of Disney's problem is kids are getting away from traditional characters at earlier ages), this might be a good idea.

Let me put it this way.
I talked to a bunch of families during MNSSHP nights, and told them about some of the fun offerings. and maybe 1 family out of 7 would have a child who would recognize who Sora was. As we've seen with a recent MK attraction, WDW is relying on name recognition for its attractions, and for that reason, I don't think we will be getting a KH attraction, though it pains me to say it.

Now, I wouldnt mind a Halo-themed paintball course at Wide World of Sports... That would be great

I doubt we'd get a Halo painball course. I mean really, Microsoft and Disney working together... That wouldn't be good... They could join forces and send out gold robots to destroy us all... Then Trump would join them... :lookaroun

Or a lazer tag arena! Ooooh...the mind boggles!
And actually, Microsoft was in talks with Disney to be the next sponsor of Spaceship Earth (I don't think those talks went anywhere, but still), so even those far-fetched plans could be realized...in some way, at least.

Kingdom Hearts...Part 2
Yes, I know, realistically Disney would never build a "Spider-Man" -type Kingdom Hearts ride, what with the way the parks are being managed right now. Realistically, they'll probably wait awhile to close Millionaire, and then replace it with some Disney Channel-themed show (which is hopefully watchable this time...I think Doug Rocks had a negative amount of people in that line). But in my original post I said that (KH ride) is what Disney SHOULD do, not what they WILL do. Shomehow people got the message like I said that that's what they're going to do. It wasn't. It was simply a Blue Sky thinking on the part of me. Of course, this isn't to say that they CAN'T build the type of ride I previously discussed (using CAVE technology). Realistically, they've been hinting (but not too seriously) at replacements for the Great Movie Ride, and they do, in fact, have plenty of space in between Indy and Star Tours for that type of gargantuan building (or studio, if you will). And of course, not only will this attraction provide MGM with (only) its second E-Ticket (RNRC is a "major D-Ticket"), but also the name recognition of Disney characters, the chance to provide an extremely wide market for KH and the upcoming KH2, insanely high merchandise potential, and a chance to really prove that Disney is STILL the leader in providing the best entertainment with the very best technology. But again, that's what they SHOULD do, not what they WILL do. Then again, that's just me.
