Kilimanjaro Safaris Construction?

My wife an I joked about the same thing a few times. We keep seeing the rare elusive dark green American pickup truck in its natural environment. They were all over the place last week. I think we saw 2 or 3 each time we did the Safari.

Yes, I've also seen the graceful General Motors Chevrolet Silverado in its native habitat when I'm on the Kilimanjaro Safari ride.

How silly that Disney would try and play this off officially as though you are in Africa, when quite clearly a Chevrolet pickup is going to ruin any attempt at that theme.

I get that it's a working zoological facility and that support staff needs to move around the "Onstage" areas of this theme park to care for the animals and facility. And how comendable that front-line hourly Cast Members try to ad-lib some excuse for why the shiny new Chevrolet is there in the middle of the African veldt. But totally un-themed Chevy pickup trucks fresh off a dealers lot in Kissimmee?!? Really Disney World management???

A fleet of Cast Member vehicles that are totally functional, but have some light theme applied to them, could look like this. Then you wouldn't be jarred back into 21st century American culture when you are on your Disney World "African Safari" ride.

It's almost like the Haunted Mansion mailbox at Disneyland. For what's lauded as one of the most detailed attractions ever built, their mailbox, clearly visible to guests entering the mansion, is an off-the-shelf model you can purchase here.

That's a pretty clever way to hide a Cast Member telephone, if you ask me.

You do realize there's a telephone hidden inside there, so the CM staffing the entrance gates can call for assistance or get help in an emergency, right?

I'm not sure how a themed enclosure hiding a standard-issue telephone at an attraction entry gate equates to unthemed Chevrolet full-size pickups in "Africa"?
