Kilamajaro safari is one of our favorite things to do at Ak. The part that I like that Disney did with new fantasyland is they added the great Disney movies of the 90s with little mermaid and beauty and the beast. But there's still a lack of Lion King and Alasdin in the parks. Aladdin has the ride at MK and lion king the show at Ak (which we love) But I still feel like Lion King in particular needs more stuff and Ak seems like a perfect spot, especially with the safari I'd be easy to theme that to lion king. Aa a 32yr old my generation is at the age of having kids. The 4 disney classics I mentioned above were in the time period of is now 25-40yr olds. I'd like to see something like this happen.

I agree. The Lion King should have more stuff in the parks. But in all honesty, there are so many movies that should have awesome rides that don't. Imagine how incredible they could do a Lion King ride, possibly a boat ride like pirates. Or an incredible Beauty and the Beast epic dark ride. I love Mermaid, but I just wish that the actual ride was a little more "grand". And I know that the Fab Five are all over the parks obviously, but how cool would a Fab Five dark ride be, showcasing many of the scenes from the early, classic cartoons? Alas, we will never get anything more for Lion King other than the show, and we will never get anything more for Aladdin other than the spinner ride.

The safari is themed accordingly natural - I for one would like it to stay that way :D

Isn't the "story" of the Safari ride that you are going on a safari? And get to view animals that inhabit various sections of the Serengeti in Africa? The inclusion of "creatures" from animated films would frankly be completely out of place here. The Serengeti contains animals other than lions. And adding aspects from animated films to this ride would be so contrary to the conservation efforts Disney showcases in the Safari. And would COMPLETELY ruin the Wild Africa Trek.

It would be like herding cats - big carnivorous ones. Nope. Never. I would personally visit Mr. Iger's office and those of the BOD to protest if anyone got the boneheaded idea to add aspects from the Lion King film to this ride.

Yup. It's the same reason the animatronic elephant was so ridiculous.

I love KS but I think the lion king should have more presence in AK

You have a wonderful show for Lion King. I agree with others that KS should not be cartoonified as they are real animals. I do however think Jungle Cruise over at MK would be a great fit for Simba and the gang.

IMHO the attraction is much better without a contrived storyline by keeping the focus on the wildlife.

I agree, I think the experience was much improved when they removed the story elements.

It was clear WDI originally thought the ride needed a climax, but since the entire point of the ride was to see animals in their "natural" habitat, after a couple rides the conclusion just felt overly contrived and extraneous. Particularly if you'd just had an amazing animal encounter earlier in the attraction...

Adding characters would lessen the experience. The tiring for repeat visitors story was a similar problem. The best way to approach a safari experience is to just rely on what the animals are up to in a given moment. It makes it much more of an immersive experience. Real animals means guests can look for something different each time. Retelling the Lion King is either going to distract people from what the main draw of the park is supposed to be, or it is going to be that annoying background noise while you are trying to get a clear view of the family of real, living elephants playing.

Saving a robot elephant from poachers and The Lion King deserve their own separate experiences where they can receive the focus they deserve.
