I have been reading about Brazillian tour groups, cheerleaders, kid groups, and other potentially annoying visitors. I was thinking of saving money and staying at a value resort the last week in January-first week in February. Would we be miserable? We stayed at POR this past November and it was sooooo peaceful and beautiful. Would I be disappointed staying at a value resort?

As for teh brazil tour groups they should be gone, they mostly are in the World during June, July, Aug. So you should be fine. If you do find yourself having issues contact the front desk immediatly, but make note of what they are wearing, possibly what rooms they might be coming out of.

I've been during cheerleading and dance competitions around that time of year and although annoying on buses, they didn't bother me at the value resort.

We stayed at Pop Jan 29- Feb 5th 2008. I do recall seeing some cheer/dance groups during our stay but, I honestly have to say they were quite well behaved. Now that isn't always the case, we have had other instances when they were a real pain. Cheering in the food court, running through the parks (unchaperoned) and the noise level at night can be horrible. I really like that time of year the best because it wasn't too hot or too cold, we even spent one day at typhoon lagoon. The weather can vary so be prepared for both types of weather.

Tours were out of control, but not so much at the resort, more at the parks and boarding the buses. I think it depends on how much time you plan to spend at the resort. I think Disney is quicker to react to noisy guest disturbing others at the hotels than anywhere else. I was there once in January and didn't see any groups.

Would you be miserable? No.

Would you prefer somewhere else? Maybe.

I've never stayed in a resort with lots of kids / tourgroups (that I know of) but from reading reports - the only problem is that there loud an you will come across them running around outside the rooms.

There was an occasion a couple of years ago where the POP Warner event ended up in a large argument / small fight but Disney seemed to handle it well and with little / no inconvinience to guests.

I would say that if you can afford it without problems, upgrade. If upgrading is going to be a strain, keep your booking.

The time of year you're going you should be fine. We stay at Pop Century all the time and do not seem to run into this problem. Even all stars shouldn't be bad this time of year.
