I am looking for info on ordering from the kids menu when we are taking no kids. DH is an insulin dependant diabetic who eats frequent, small meals. We have found this works better for him. I am talking about while in the parks, at counter service locations like Pecos Bills or Cosmic Rays. Sometimes, while walking around he needs a few extra carbs and the kids meals are smaller portions and better balanced (fruit and milk). What do you think? I looked around at the menus and they all say "for 3 to 9 year olds", that leads me to believe that I have to have a kid :lookaroun (well, a smaller kid than my DH) standing right there next to me when I order! I will order all my meals form the adult side, of course, I have no problem eating a bigger meal! :slurp: Please no flames, I am seriously just asking a question and do not wish this to become a can of worms.

CS restaurants shouldn't care what you are ordering. We have done it on a few occasions and trust me the counter people couldn't care less what you order or eat. I've also ordered kid's meals in TS restaurants with no problems. It's Disney, they aim to please.

I always get the kids meals, and I am 24:p. They are smaller portioned, and also I am a very picky eater, so they usually have something I will eat ( hot dogs, chicken nuggets, etc.) I have never had a problem ordering them, and my Mom also orders them with no problems.

I my self am a non insulin dependant diabetic, and know for a fact if you explain your situation to them 99.9% of the cast members would be more than happy to accommodate your needs. Just an FYI, if you are making ADRs and are on the dining plan or getting desserts anyways let them know ahead of time, and they can and will make you sugar free desserts!:sohappy: Another piece of advice if you are on the dining plan is snacks, snacks were a savior to me. You can get fruit, cereal even healthy snack foods like popcorn and pretzels and no little small bags either. You can bring these with you to the parks for that little pick me up if you need it. Hope this all helps! If you need anymore help let know if you need anything else, I'd be more than happy to help.

When I'm in the parks, I always get the kids meals. They are half the price and the perfect portion size for me. Prior to last year, each restaurant had its own unique sides and more options (like Mickey cheddar crackers and apple slices) but it has unfortunately become more streamlined and its usually only grapes, carrot sticks and applesauce (with fries as an alternative).

CM's will never question you ordering from the kids meal. And as a tip - if that's all you're ordering, it'll be $4.25 with tax. Yes, I've eaten these more than once.

Same here.

Getting the smaller meals at a counter service is no problem because many people don't make their kids stand on line anyway.
I always carry stuff with me also...peanut butter crackers are a must (Austin brand 6 to a pack). My doctor gives these out at her office. Its usually 3 cracker sandwiches = 15 carbs. I use the packs as snacks or a quick meal. I keep the low carb snack bars with me at all times too and also bottled water. Don't forget to keep his glucose source handy in case of hypoglycemia.

I always have a source of quick sugar with me, usually his tablets. I love the crackers too, 15 carbs is about right to get him up if he gets too low. He walks much more in WDW and usually it will take us a day or so to get the food increased and at the right times to keep him level.
