well doctor says i can fly but i will have to be the one to remove my own stint if i have one. that will be the sucky part. so surgery friday i fly sunday they said i can pull the stint monday and monday is the first day i go into the parks!
Which surgery are you having? Some just break up the stones, others remove them outright.
I would absolutely NOT accept any case of removing your own stint.
1) it is beyond painful.. as in.. scream out loud pain. When done quick, it's quick, but there is no hiding it, it's insane pain for 10 seconds or so
2) you should be sterile and getting antibiotics to do a stint removal. After one of my earlier episodes, my doctor removed the stint in his office and didn't put me on antibiotics. 2 days later I came down with a 104 degree fever and ended up in the hospital for 4 days fighting the resulting infection.
Since then, I've had several stints, each no problem when treated with antibiotics afterwards.
Another point of advice... never let the doctor talk you into doing the scope in their office to retrieve stints that are up beyond the itself. Without a doubt, the worst procedure I've ever had in my life.. and is 10x worse than any stone pain you've felt. Literally, screaming at the top of your lungs type of pain.. on and off for a few minutes. They can do the procedure under general in outpatient.. and you should insist on that
This is coming from someone who has had so many stones I can't even keep track anymore.. and I pass most of them now with just a few hours of discomfort.
here's a winner from a few years ago. This one was not passed
