Keys to the Kingdom Suggestions/Advise

I'm considering booking a Keys to the Kingdom as a surprise to my fiance while we are on our disneymoon June 6-12. My concern is it taking 5 hours. We got a free extra day in the parks when we snagged the special offer for spring so we could do a half day in one park and do the KTTK tour that morning or sacrifice 5 hours of our only full day in MK to do the tour. With so much to see and do in MK I'm worried about not being able to see all our must do's.
our plan so far is:
Mon: Arrival day - plane lands at 5:30- probably DS or a few hours at MK with our extra park day
Tues: MK (Dinner at BoG)
Wed: AK 1/2 day - we have 3pm wine tasting and 5:30 dinner reservations at Jiko so we wanted to have time to go back to the hotel and freshen up. Possibly got to MK that evening since they have evening EMH that night.
Thurs: HS (Dinner @ 1900 park fare)
Fri: EP (Dinner @ Le Cellier)
Sat: IoA & US
Sun: Departure Day
Good/Bad idea? Thoughts/Suggestions?

It really all depends on what's important to you and how you want to spend your Disneymoon.
For us, we wanted to take it easy and go at a leisurely pace with breaks and dining stops while still touring the parks the way we usually do: lots of rides and shows. We really didn't want to be tied down to much other than a dining reservation. We had an incredible time.

If the tour is important to you and you think your fiancé will love it, go for it. If you'd like to spend more time doing the parks at a typical speed, forego it.

Either way, it's a win: don't do the tour now, you'll have to go back soon and do it! Do the tour, you'll have to go back soon and have more ride time!

Whatever you choose, make sure you do it in a way where you'll look back and think to yourself "wow...we had an amazing, unforgettable, happy time." Wishing you a wonderful wedding and honeymoon.

Betsy,
Congratulations on your Disneymoon! Now for you schedule...
The only things I need to say is this...
-HS: UNLESS it is a must to do HS, I would avoid it...it will be a huge construction zone by that time in June 2016. SAVE THE MONEY!
-Keys to the Kingdom: Park admission is required for MK on your day of tour. You may want to check with Disney to see what type of tickets you will need in order to do the tour on Thursday...as it looks now, you will have to buy another MK admission for Thursday.

We are doing the tour on our trip in 2017, but what we are planning on doing is getting a 2 day park hopper, on day 1 we will do the tour and then HOP over to AK(since we have a hopper we can do it this way!) The hopper will count as the park admission for the tour, but gives us the options to hop to another 1/2 day park. The tour will start around 830am and not end until 2-3pm...why use a full park day to do the tour? Buy the hopper option so you are covered! AT LEAST CHECK INTO IT to make sure your tickets will be enough!

I agree with doing a half-day for HS in the late afternoon/evening with MK in the morning for KTTK. You'll need park hopper to do this, though. While I'm not married, I think you would want an entire "magical" day in MK for your Disneymoon on Tuesday.

Second, although not asked about, I would recommend expanding your day in AK, or returning to AK in the evening. The Rivers of Light show should be running by then. And maybe the nighttime version of Safaris. You could also schedule dinner in the park there as well or just reschedule Jiko until after the show. But you could probably still do Jiko then hop to AK for the evening. Hold on to your Jiko ADR for now. You can cancel/reschedule no later than 24 hours prior with no penalty.

Half a day at HS will be plenty at that time.

And yes, book KTTK!!! We did it in March 2014 (link to my TR) and absolutely loved it. I wish I could somehow forget everything I learned just to do it over again! We had a new tour guide and were her first group, and she really blew us away with how much she knew about every aspect of WDW. The only negative thing I'd say about it is that it does take away from the magic somewhat, so if you'd rather not know how things work, or see garbage lying around, don't do it.
