Key to the World Question

We want to add our credit card to our Key for resort charging, but can you also add things like Disney Dollars or Disney Gift Cards?

We received a lot of Disney Dollars and Disney Gift Cards as gifts at my fiances bridal shower and we were wondering if these can be added to the Key to the World card as a credit. We figured it would be easier to consolidate them onto one Card. Is this possible? Also if it is possible, can we still have a credit card on file for when the Disney Dollars/Gift cards run out?

I can't see why you couldn't. Disney is generally happy to get your money any way you choose to give it.

I am not sure the answer to your question but I know that you could pay off what you charged to your room with the disney dollars and gift cards. I know that you are given a set limit of how much you can charge to your room based on the level hotel you are staying at:
value-$500 moderate-$1000 deluxe-$1500.

You could conceivably set up an account entirely with cash/Disney Dollars, making your limit equal to the amount you gave them. When that ran out, you'd have to go back to the Front Desk to set up a new payment source.

BUT, in terms of simplicity's sake, as Kitten said, you can just use the DDs and gift card(s) to pay down your balance on a traditional room charge account. Open the room charge with your credit card. That credit card won't actually be charged any money until either a) you reach your charging limit, or b) it's the overnight hours before the morning you check out.
So after you've charged some things to your room (or even as late as the evening before you check out), you can visit the Front Desk and give them your Disney Dollars and gift card to pay toward your balance. Any additional balance will then be charged onto your linked credit card.

Agreed...this is by far the easiest thing to do.

Actually, the "easiest" thing to do is what the OP asked. Attach a credit card to the KTTW and add the Disney Dollars and Gift cards to the account as a credit. Then the OP would not have to make extra visits to the front desk until they max out the limit put on credit based on which level of resort they are at.

There's no reason that I'm aware of that they couldn't do just that.

By any of the approaches suggested thus far there would be a requirement to visit the front desk again after having charged enough to the room that the Disney Dollars and Gift cards would pay it off and then anything else would be charged against the credit limit and billed to the card. By establishing the credit limit and then adding the Disney Dollars and Gift cards as credits to the account, the OP would deplete the positive dollar credit on the account and then start using the credit limit which would ultimately be billed to their CC. Which would save an unnecessary visit to the desk.

During our last trip the YC front desk charged our balance to our credit card about halfway through our stay. It was only about $60, but the card kept being declined because they "forgot to update the expiration" on check in. It took three trips to the front desk to get it fixed. I still think the problem had to do with them charging my card for around 20k when we checked in...

The point is, you never know when they're going to randomly run your card so if they can do it the way the OP asked it's a safer bet.

They should have swiped your card. There is no way to "update the expiration". The number and expiration pull straight off your card.

Not sure why they did it, but the reason they gave isn't right.

Thanks for the replies everyone! Paying the Card Key Balance with the Disney Dollars at the end seems like a good idea, but like Monty Said it would be easy to just put all the Disney Dollars on the Key along with a credit card. So when we spent all the Disney Dollars/Credit, the rest of the balance would start getting charged to the CC.

I'll guess I'll try and get in touch with the hotel (AKL) and see what they say.
