Key change at Disney

As someone else said, in new cars you can damage them by trying to unlock them with those hook thingies...I'm sure a Cast Member accidentally did so, the owners sued disney, and now we lose the privilege. So don't blame disney. This is not the type of thing that would save any money--c'mon...three jobs won't do a thing. People will just spend more time at Guest Relations trying to get someone to help them. People simply need to be more responsible and keep a spare set of keys somewhere...(I keep mine in my wallet, so if someone were to steal my keys AND wallet...THEN I'd be screwed :)

I agree with Monorail Lime,
Disney has a duty to shareholders and employees to ask the questions:

Are we libel if we damage anything?
Yes.

Do most guests have resources for retrieving their keys (rental car agency-AAA)?
Yes

What is our cost for the service?
$100,000+/yr

Does saving this money help the company?
Yes

The logical decision is to discontinue the service and deploy resources as need be, even if that meens turning a greater profit. Profit = better stock prices, which meens more capital, which results in more growth in WDW.

If you had ever been to WDW back when it was one park and two hotels, you are stunned and amazed at the growth and expanded entertainment that has taken place over the last 15 yrs.

IMHO, the high level of service and quality that exists today is amazing, amazing because of the sheer scale. In the real world it can be a chore to get your mail delivery correctly, and at WDW they can get your new stuffed Mickey back to your hotel room and posed on your bed within 12hrs.

I wish my local retail stores and restaurants were half as good as those in the World.

Maybe you just need to slow down a bit.

People like you are the reason there are now airgates on Its a Small World and "Stay In Your Seat" plaques on every inch of every attraction.

If you lose your parking space AND lock your keys in your car you deserve to cough up 50 bucks for a locksmith.

Just like those lions on the Jungle Cruise, life is all about Survival of the Fittest.

We all make mistakes. No need to be rude.

ya know what?

make fun of that all you want, but you can't argue with this. That was part of what made Disney different, what made it better than other places. They'd drain your savings account, but would still try to make sure you got home safely. I don't see Universal or Busch (Sea World/Busch Gardens) attempting to do that.

Part of the WDW experience is forgetting all your troubles, and now they just took one of those away.

OH NO!!!, I am never going again, those bastards, how could they take away a key seervice I never knew existed. My point is that they can get rid of that service and guess what? You are styill going to go because you have fun there.

Although we never actually have locked our keys in a car (YET, I should stress), I did know that Disney would help you if you did! I can see why the service has been discontinued because of potential liability, but it's also just another example of that personal touch disappearing. I want to add that I am a realist, and I know perfectly well that Disney has a strong responsibility to its shareholders.

I'd let them lock my keys in my car for me and then smack me round the lot a bit if it would get rid of the Chester & Hester mess.

That disturbs me way, way more than the cut back of a complementary service.

I was embarassed two years ago when they had those carnival games there, and I am mortified that they grew into that mess that is there now.

Sorry, off on a tangent

(p.s. please, no one give me that crap that C&H are "themed" to be tacky and that it is "suposed" to be a tourists trap that sprang up around the Dino Institute....I'm just not buyin' that one.)

All I can say is thank God for remotes and keyless entery. It makes it easier not to lock the keys in the car when you use them to lock them from the outside! Now all I need to is to get that on my house!!!!!

That is why I love garage door openers:D

Yes that helps, but my garage is not attached to the house
I tell you, one of these days they are going to be as popular as the keyless remotes for cars, and I am getting one. (I will hold out a few more years until the price goes down.

don't blame disney...blame the morons who go to disney looking for a way to sue the company b/c it has a lot of money...like the kids chucking their kids around in Spaceship Earth...they spoil it for us all. You can not possibly expect a company to keep something if they get sued for a few million bucks just for offering the service. For one, we wouldn't get any new rides...

Well said (and so true)!!! i completely agree, it's these minor services/little things that set Disney above and apart from all of the rest....NOW I don't exactly know where they are :(
