I'm gonna predict he steps down from Marvel within the next 3-5 years. Maybe at the end of Phase 4. I think this is very much KK grooming her successor. They start by giving him one movie. see how he does. He'll most likely knock it out of the park both financially and critically and when that happens they'll offer him the gig. Its just the next logical step for his career. He probably sees the chance to fix Star Wars as a unique challenge. From the article
Some see this move as a prelude to a larger role for Feige within Lucasfilm, while others say it merely reflects the Marvel executive’s passion for the franchise.
He'll do FF and still have a hand in the first X-Men film but after that I think someone like Victoria Alonso will take over as Feige moves onto bigger things most likely Star Wars and maybe eventually replacing Alan Horn as head of WDS.

You think she’s in charge? Like at all??

This is her direct competitor to succeed Alan horn being brought in to bail out a lagging franchise...
You’re right. I just find it funny that Bob Iger claimed he was going to order a “slow down” with all the Star Wars stuff but it seems that almost every other day there’s more being announced.

Just because Feige has done Marvel right, doesn’t necessarily mean he’ll do the same for Star Wars. Star Wars just isn’t special anymore.

If Feige knocks it out the park with Star Wars, I'm assuming he'll be replacing Horn. Then he can make sure both Star Wars and Marvel are on track. Regardless I think this is great news. I wonder if he'll try to lure the Russo's to work on a Star Wars film at some point as all 3 of them are big fans.

...unfortunately...this is the “thing”

Maybe. KK's contract ends in what, 2021 or 2022? So this is plausible.

These people will never admit they broke Star Wars to begin with so there's nothing to fix in their minds.
To the rest of us, this could be the opportunity to "right the ship". I do find it weird that this "news leak" comes the same week that Iger told the world that he and Kennedy betrayed Lucas.

I guess some people still don’t believe they didn’t try to replace her in the summer of 2018??

There’s really no reason to doubt it now.

And iger’s inclusion of the Lucas story in his book and the release is “curious” to say the least. Sure seems like OT fan kidding doesn’t it??

There are no “coincidences” in Disney
Talk about your all time admissions of guilt. I’d be pretty surprised to see Kennedy last much longer.
She’s been lame duck for two years.

They gave her a “contract extension” that could mean absolutely nothing in Hollywood. The money doesn’t matter...and she could be pushed out of it at anytime. That’s Hollywood. People make and breaks their contracts at any time.

Her primary “security” at this point is she’s speilbergs lackey and he’s kinda a free agent...I’m sure they want to keep him on their good side.

Let’s look at this with the big boy pants, please?:
The brought in Dan and Dave (not looking as great now) to shove Kathy’s little boy toy out the door...and now they are bringing Feige and favreau in to try for damage control after the “death of the skywalkers”...

Let’s just call it a spade??

Hmm... Maybe someone finally figured out that story and continuity matter, not just merchandise sales and "making our own Star Wars movies" by throwing out most of what made the franchise special to begin with, which has proven to be a ... questionable... strategy thus far. Bringing in the guy who just shepherded a 22-movie story arc, while generating billions in box office revenue? Smells like some people are desperate to right the SW movie ship before their ineptitude completely sinks it.

Star Wars could be made special again, but Disney will never do what is necessary to make it so: stop producing content, at least in terms of films. The thing that, above everything else, that made Star Wars so anticipated and such an event was that there wasn't a ton of content. Yes, there were non-film properties but in terms of the actual movies, there were a total of only six movies released over a nearly 30 year period. I just don't think Star Wars can support having a new film released every year and it still be special.
