Keep my waitlist, or dump it?

Looking for some input - we're DVC members and currently have reservations at Boardwalk for our November trip. We've been on the waitlist for Wildnerness Lodge since we made the reservations. Never stayed at either, so it would be a new adventure either way!

Is it worth holding out for Wildnerness or should I just drop the waitlist and stay with Boardwalk? Our next trip will be September of next year, so I'm guessing, with dates so close to Food and Wine Festival, our chances of getting back into Boardwalk would be slim. Daughter will be 2 at the time of our upcoming November trip, so assuming we'll spend the majority of time in MK, thought Wildnerness would be more convenient. Thoughts?

Thanks!

If you want to stay at Wilderness Lodge then you have nothing to lose by staying on the wait list. The worst thing that can happen is that the request simply can't be fulfilled. Unless you need the waitlist spot for something else, then you might as well just keep it if you want to stay there.

Just remember that the waitlist terminates at 30 days before the check-in date. You can request to remain on the waitlist until 7 days prior to your check-in day. I never understood why you had to reques that, but you do. Then at the 7 day mark you can call every day and continue to check for cancellations. This has worked for us a few times in the past, so if you want to stay at the WLV then keep trying until the day you arrive if you want.

The reason you have to specifically request to stay on the wait list until the 7 day mark before check in is: if your waitlist comes through between 30 and 7 days, and the new reservation uses less points than the original reservation, those points go into holding. Not everyone wants holding points, so some choose to terminate their waitlists at 31 days. That is why MS doesn't automatically extend all waitlists to 7 days before check in.

I'm biased since we ahve owned at BW since '99 but its a wodnerful resort and more convienvent that WL (though we have stayed there in the past)

You ahve the two park access and strollers go on and off the bus easily.

Stay and enjoy Boardwalk

Now knowing you or your daughter, I'd suggest she'd get more out of staying at Wilderness Lodge next year when she's 3. She'll be more responsive to the sense of anticipation from taking the boat ride over to the MK. Whereas at 2 she'll either go with the flow of whatever you do...or be a terror. Fingers crossed. :D

You're right, it'll always be harder to get into the Boardwalk during F&W, so keep the ressies you have now, and do Wilderness Lodge next September.

Definitely Hold on. We had SSR booked for 4 months and then the day before our October trip, our waitlist was granted at AKL Jambo (We were on a waitlist for AKV and VWL).
