I haven't been on Kali River Rapids but I have been on Universal's Bilge Rat Barges and loved it. Has anybody been on both? Which one in your opinion is better and why? :D

The themeing on Kali is fantastic (especially at night) and the drop is fantastic, but it's just way too short. I think that Popeye is also themed better than one would expect, but it's length is perfect. But you almost get TOO wet on Popeye.

I'd have to go with Popeye for it's length and it's rougher rapids. But Kali is good in it's own way.

The official spin-off thread to "Kali River Rapids"

IMO Bilge-Rat Barges is a much better ride, but I find both to be equal in queue theming. BRB is imaginatively themed and colourful and energetic, unlike KRR which is a bit to lackluster and real-worldy at times. What's up with the ride slowly trickling by the burning wood instead of wildly spinning and bumping into cinged logs. I respect the message that it carries, but it just kills the rest of the ride. It has, what, one drop, while BRB has quite a few. But I have one complaint for the Barges..you get TOO wet!!

I rode Kali after riding Popeye and was disappointed by comparison. One of the few times I felt that Universal did a better job than Disney. (I know, I know. Blasphemy).

BRB wins hands down. I appreciate the effort imagineering put into the story and theming of the Queue, but the ride is just lacking despite the large drop.

I'll never forget the first ride. We couldn't believe we came around the corner and it was over.

Popeye is a way better ride. theming is better, the length is better....Everythign about it is better.

Having said that Kali is a great ride, not a thing wrong with it. they are both fun rides.

Like I said, I loved BRB. We did ride at the end of the day so getting a little wet was not a problem. But I did get soaked! My 6 year old had a blast and my white t-shirt wearing wife was, well, she had her arms folded in front of her once off the ride. Seeing as we were all soaked, we decided to ride again. Bummer that Kali is not that long. Also interesting to see all votes going towards BRB. All are forgiven for being honest. :D

Kali was ok. I agree too short. But, BRB was the best raft type ride I have ever been on. Just wish I would have know I was going to get THAT wet. Jean shorts take forever to dry.

It's funny that, on BRB, they ask that no one removes its shoes...and everybody does it anyways!!!

Universal also asks everyone to not hold their hands up durning the drops of Jurassic Park and Ripsaw Falls

I don't think Universal really cares to be honest. They just don't want to get in trouble.

Haven't been to Universal for years and years but I have done Kali River Rapids, and I was a little disappointed. The ride is essentially get on, get wet, get off. There really isn't too much to look at for scenery, although the original setting seems to suggest something Indiana Jones-style (which, now that I think of it, would have been pretty awesome). The drop is pretty fun though. And it does achieve its purpose: getting people wet. For a good river rapids ride I'd suggest Grizzly River Run at California Adventure. That was easily the BEST RIVER RAPID RIDE I HAVE EVER TRIED (sweet it rhymes). WOOT WOOT!

YEP!

The BigeRat Barge ride is superior in ride quality and length, but as other have mentioned, YOU WILL GET SOAKED ON IT!!!

At least on Kali River Rapids there is a good chance you can ride without getting wet!

Popeye's is by far the best raft ride I've been on.

I'd like to see how it compares to Grizzly River Rapids, and this one.... (PML have already seen this)

There is also a rapids ride in Europe with a Vertical Drop, ie you just go over the edge of a wall (it was planned to be more like a trapdoor, but the budget got cut)

Yeah, not much to compare with those two. Definitely gotta give that one to Universal. But thats ok, because when you compare Splash Mountain and Ripsaw Falls, again there is no competition; the award goes to Disney. So they're even.
