Just wondering....

This is my first post! (even though I have followed this site for half a decade).... Anyways, I wanted to know how everyone felt about an idea
that I had, so here goes!

I recently watched the video of the DisneySea version of Fantasmic! And thought it was leaps and bounds greater than our version! What if they were to close Illuminaions and replace it with Fantasmic! 2.0, and come up with a new nightime draw for Hollywood Studios?

Fantasmic has absolutely nothing to do with Epcot, or more specifically, with World Showcase. It would completely destroy the theming. Illuminations, on the other hand, is a perfect fit.

Also, Illuminations is probably the most loved of all the nighttime shows on property, among WDW fans. Eliminating it would likely cause riots.

Wow...how incredible is their version! It's not even close to ours. Theater in the round for Epcot might be hard to pull off though.

I'm certainly not opposed to removing Illuminations (it's my least favorite show on property), and I know that I'm in the minority saying that. BUT, I don't really think that Fantasmic belongs in Epcot. The clips and segments of Disney movies really fits in better with the theme of Hollywood Studios.

That being said, I think that the Epcot World Showcase Lagoon is not being used to its full potential. I think it could hold a fountain show, like World of Color. Get it? "world" of color? Only instead of Disney movies, maybe they could integrate places in the world from all the pavillions.

Fantasmic, although one of my favorite shows on property, does need a little TLC. Maybe an update, add a few scenes, take out the Pocahantas part, add in something different.

umm..... fantasmic isnt in epcot. it IS in studios.

personally i thought fantasmic was stupid compared to wishes, illuminations, or any other nightime show in the entire resort for that matter.

Why couldn't they just replace the Fantasmic at WDW with the one you're talking of?
Also, I'm pretty sure this has been mentioned before, but from what i've heard a fountain show like World of Color has to be in a man made water area than can be filtered and controlled beyond what can be done with a "almost natural" one like World Showcase Lagoon. So, apparently (im no expert here) World of Color or any show like it will not be coming to Epcot any time soon.

Absolutely not!! It would be a huge mistake to replace illuminations. Illuminations is by far the best night show at wdw which is why it has been around so long ( with a few tweaks). I for one would be extremely disappointed if they replaced it, now with fantasmic that is fine no problems replacing it.

I know that Fantasmic is in the Studios, thanks. I was simply stating that Fantasmic should remain in its current park.

It probably won't happen, but it would be very cool if it did! I would just love to see this technology make its way to WDW. Not a show replica, but the technology with an all new show designed for Disney World. Maybe some place in AK? Who knows. :shrug:

I personally love Illuminations and hope it stays without changes. I do think the OP is talking about tweaking it to include some other WOC type waterworks. In that regard, I could see them ADDING some WOC fountain type "world" scenes to supplement the globe displays but not replace anything currently there. In that sense, it seems to be a topic ripe for discussion. Even by those vehemently opposed to any alteration.

Now that's an idea! Compromise. Gotta admit that I think the actual fireworks in Illuminations are fine, but I hate the globe. Takes up too much of the show. And just waiting to watch Illuminations is an attraction in itself, one I'm not really interested in experiencing.

But I could see an integration. That might be the thing to appease those who aren't thrilled with Illuminations (as small as the margin may be) and those who are die hard Illuminations fans.
