Here's something totally wild:
This is an edited training video from 1976 covering costume dressing procedures, behavior, and other aspects of the job.
It's even narrated by Jack Wagner!
You do see employees in mid-costume, so, you know, viewer discretion and all that.
A friend of mine who worked at Six Flags had his nose broken while working as a troll at their Fright Fest.
Ive often wondered who they get to fill some of those charecter costumes. Like, for example...Minnie, is it always a female in those or do they just look for whoever fits in it? There are times we are sitting at dinner say, and Minnie comes over acting sshy, and cute and I will say " Hey minnie and smile at her(?) BUT is it a guy Im talking to sometimes?....just wondering
Minnie, daisey, donald, piglet etc....only certain size people can fill those..
so im just wondering the proccess in picking people..are they coached ?( I would think)

* Thank you, I'll be here all night *
Just to blow everyone's mind, one of the friends of Tinkerbell who flies from the castle during the fireworks is a man.
That one I did know. I also hear he's the highest paid cast member at Disney World XDJust to blow everyone's mind, one of the friends of Tinkerbell who flies from the castle during the fireworks is a man.
The characters are cast by height. Gender plays no part of the process.
And, yes, the characters are taught certain mannerisms...
So...I would guess that, yes, you have probably interacted with a male at some point. Don't worry about it.
Eew, that's gross! That fairy should've visited my local Arab hairdresser...
A face character can't say much either, they have to remain in character at all times when near guests. The handler does any action for them, they just have to sit and smile or act offended but within character.I always feel bad when something happens to the fur characters they have no way to defend themselves. A face character can say something.
