Just so you know, no flash pictures on GMR.

Today at MGM, we were riding the Great Movie Ride. We got the cowboy hijacking rather than the gangster. The cowboy was a younger, slightly overweight male. A woman about halfway back had been taking flash photos a few times throughout the ride to this point. The original driver had ignored this, but the cowboy decided to address it. He told her to stop at first, but then, at the scene where the driver makes his return, she took a picture. He pointed at her and said "Stop that already lady!"

She replied with "No!"

At this point, the man actually stood up on the driver's seat, pointed at her, with one finger, mind you :lookaroun , and told her something along the lines of "I'm serious, no flash pictures, now stop!" He then shot her a look as he went up to the jewel.

I understand that flash photography is not allowed, but I felt that the actions this CM took to try to get the lady to stop was too much. It was mentioned to a CM at the loading area when we get off, and he told us that he'd let a supervisor know about the situation.

The no flash photography is a rule for respect for other people as it is for anything else.

The guest was truly in the wrong here, flash photography in a dark ride is quite annoying. Besides, most of the pictures will not look like what you actually see.

I agree that the guest was wrong in taking flash pictures after being told not to multiple times, but at the same time I feel that the CM went too far by breaking character to yell at the guest in the middle of the attraction for it.

Considering the role he played, it sounded sort of appropriate. Either way, it does get annoying. People are funny.

I have to admit that there's nothing more annoying than some rube lighting up a ride with a camera flash. I rode HM a few trips back with some idiot in the doom buggy ahead of me snapping pics all thru the ride. I was ready to throttle him. With regards to the CM on GMR, if she was taking pics of him while he was performing, I would think he was concerned about being blinded by the flash while he was moving. Just my personal thought though. At any rate, kudos to him for being persistent with her. And shame on her for refusing to listen to him.

Guess that rude "No!" of that woman should be enough to through her out for the day.... that's it ..

first some guest never understand that taking flash pictures of the dark rides is just plain stupid (the pics will turn out crap .. out of focus..overbright) and ignoring some CM "order" is just enough to say byebye :brick:

Keep in mind that the "no flash photography" rule is also for the safety of the performing CMs...I heard about a GMR CM who fell darn near down the "temple" in the jewel scene because of a photo-taking guest. So this guy probably just didn't want a broken leg ;)

Some people won`t take no for an answer - and the womans attitude sounds like she deserved it. CMs are human too.

As everyone has pointed out this is the guest doing 100%. I know when I worked at Universal Hollywood, I pulled people off BTTF, ET, and JP for flashs. Not only is it rude and annoying to everyone around you, it also really screws with the IR cameras.

While it is ture most of the time the "no flash pictures" are more for the people around you. It is not always the case, so how about instead of doing it when the person feels like it they just respect the rules and NOT DO IT!!!

Well, the guy was about to get off the ride vehicle anyway, he could have sent word to security about the issue and had them meet her at the end of the ride.

Just a quick question, can you tape the Great Movie Ride if you don't have a camera light on? I have a nightshot light thing, and that doesn't shoot out any light.

Unless you are told before the ride that there is no filming of any type, you can tape and photo all you want as long as there is no flash. Now, I know with my camera, it emits a green glow when you use without flash. It also can be irritating in very dark situations.

Nightshot often shows up as a spotlight or "flame" on IR cameras, so if there is a no-taping period warning, don't tape period.

Maybe the CM just reached his breaking point. I am sure he turned a blind eye for the millions of other times guests that have taken flash photos for so long. This time, he just broke and couldnt hold his tonge any longer. Havent we all been in that position, where we just blow up after holding something in so long.....it could have happened to the CM!!! I am sure he is usually pleasant. The guest was in the wrong!

The CM had every right for his behavior. There is no flash photography for everyone's enjoyment of the ride. That lady showed a disrespect for not only the CM but for everyone else. I say good job to the CM for sticking up for his safety and the people sitting around her.
