For me I went many times starting in 1982. When it was just the Magic Kingdom and I saw EPCOT Center 6 months before it opened. I went every year from 1985 to 1992. Then stayed 10 days at Fort Wilderness camping out on Oct. of 1997. I have been 5 times at just one park from 2002 to 2007.
Yes things change. I live in Saint Petersburg Florida for the last 9 years now and have only been 2 times to WDW and that was just for EPCOT and The Studios. And I have been kinda anti WDW and the reason why. Is because people get on here and make it seem like it's the worst experience in the world. But the problem I see is from the people that post negativity is the people that go every week.
Be happy that you can go. Most people would love to and will never ever get too. I Don't hate it but I'm like the original poster on here. I know I can't ever go back to the 1st time I ever went or going to EPCOT Center in 1985 for the 1st time. I have done other parks and all that Universal and I have been to Hawaii . But WDW is WDW. Most of the people I think on here are just old fuddy duddies to put it nicely.
I plan on going back in 2016 for 8 days camping out at FW for 4 days. Then I'm finally gonna splurge on staying at the Contemporay Resort in the main Tower. A 43 year old dream come true. It may be expensive. But You cant take it with you but all those years I went I still have the memories. Your vacation is what you make of it. If you go expecting a bad time then you will have a bad time. For me this is my last trip. I won't be able to ride every ride but there are some I have never rode. I will do that and be happy as far as food. I will eat at the 50's Primetime Cafe and maybe a few other places. But as far as a expensive dinner I will either eat at the California Grill one night and the rest of the time I will be off property. Go and enjoy yourself and don't let others opinion matter to what you will or will not enjoy.

Hmm... I wonder if you consider me to be one of those "younger" teachers? LOL... I'm 31. I'm in my 8th year of teaching. If I think back, I do see a huge difference in my current students and the ones I taught my first year or two, but part of that is the fact that I'm in a different school now... I went from very rural to very urban; same sets of problems but for opposite reasons, to an extent.

I fully intend to stay positive... it's just that I tend to over think things as it is, so it's easy for me to get caught up in the critical posts and wonder about how much of those posts are things that will impact my trip. We're going for six days, so I doubt we'll have issues with finding time to do everything we really want to do, but it's easy to let my mind wander.

No way! ;) I'm only 37. I mean the 22-23 year old first year teachers (no offense if anyone out there fits this role). You know.....the ones that freak out if their smartboard isn't working or if the network is down. :banghead: No contingency plans........... I LOVE the fresh look at things and learning new technologies, but just as I can get set in my ways with "the old days/ways" the younger generation can be set in their ways with "the new and improved". Working in harmony benefits everyone. As a teacher sometimes I lose sight of what my ultimate goal is and that is to educate students. Disney can sometimes lose sight of what their ultimate goal is too........

Ok... I'm going to be 100% honest here.
As someone who hasn't been to WDW in about 13 years, some of the things I read on here scare me and make me feel like dh and I are spending all this time and money on a trip that is going to be substandard. This trip is very important to us, as it is (hopefully) the last trip we will be taking as a kid-free couple.
Am I hoping for too much?!?
Your vacation experience is going to depend on the type of person you are and how you set your expectations, so make your expectations realistic. Only you can make your trip substandard!
To start, the times I've gone to Disney World I'm just happy to be away on vacation with my family and am fortunate to be able to afford it. Yes, planning fast passes and dinners can be challenging, but it helps build excitement and gets the family involved in the planning. Things change so be flexible. If you're going live by some of the spreadsheets I've seen in this forum, good luck, but don't be disappointed when you're behind schedule or can't fit everything in!
If you're the type of person that can find something wrong with anything, then you'll find something wrong.
If you're the type of person from the minute you check in you accost the staff for an upgrade or something wrong in your room, you'll make it a bad experience.
If you're the type of person who thrives off confrontation and just want something for free, good luck.
If you're the type of person who looks for trash on main street, you'll find it!
You're going to spend a lot of money, but I think worth every penny. Don't sweat the small stuff.
I tell my kids every trip; "If you don't have a good time in Disney World, that's your problem!"
