 That's what I feel like!! Ok, I don't know about your neighborhoods, but our's is prety safe. But there's a park near our house that isn't! There have been all kinds of stuff happen there at night (gangs & stuff). But in all the years we've lived in this house (almost 13 years now) nothing has happened to us. But, at like 2:00 AM, I was downstairs (by myself) in this room right by the front door, reading some posts on here & chatting...when all of a sudden I heard 5 LOUD gun shots!!!!!! For a minute, I just sat there....then I took off up the stairs. That was the 1st time ever I've heard gun shots that loud! And after it, it was totally silent! Which is real weird. And since then, nothing! No cops or anything! Luckily, my sister has a computer in her room. So she was nice enough to let me on it since I won't get sleep tonight anyways! But thanks for reading this!! :) I just needed to vent!! Coz I'm pretty jumpy right now!!

I was talking to her, she said nobody did, and that the only thing thats happened since is that a car with no lights on drove by. I'd be scared. I didn't help her at all by telling her a scary story that happened to me and my friends...

If in doubt, call the police. That's what their there for is to help you. They won't make you feel bad for calling either. Is your parents at home? If you still feel uneasy and can't sleep I would make a phone call to the police, tell them it's not an emergency, but you heard something that sounded like gun shot going off.

I hope you're ok.

Thanks guys. hehehe, I just needed to talk bout it. I'm a lot better now. I only got maybe 2 hours of sleep (only because I had to wake up at 7). But most of that was because I was on my AIM talking. lol. But after I wrote that I was feeling better. It just shook me up a bit. The cops weren't called, but if it happens again anytime soon, I'll be the first to call. Don't think my parents are bad or anything, for not calling. It wasn't the first time we've heard guns around here before. Just the first time I have. We're actually pretty safe where we live! It's just the fact that I heard it. Ya know? Well, thanks again for reading it!! I'll let you know if I hear anything else about it!

Hi,

I live in West Philadelphia and my neighborhood isn't the safest in the world.. not by a long shot. Murders have occured here. Prostitution can easily be found around the neighborhood. Drug dealers lurk around. To give you an idea, the Allen Iverson incident took place a few minutes from me. I or someone close to me have experienced almost any crime you can think of first-hand. My house has been broken into, my family has been attacked, I've been mugged in the street, heck, even kidnapped. Even the walls of our church don't give us much protection. To me, it's a scary place for you never know what's around the corner. My advice to you is not to be afraid, you can't let fear control your life. I'm able to get through life by living my life and being thankful I am alive. My dreams of a better life are what's getting me though these times. Hope you feel better.... and hope I didn't scare you too much. If you ever wanna talk, you can always AIM me (name's in my sig).

I remember when was at Vista Way, one night some police cars went by pretty near, we could hear the sirens. We were all watching TV and the guys quickly ran to the window to try and spot what was going on. I remember getting some weird looks because I was the only one not getting up! (They were all Americans)

Then I had to explain to them how a Brazilian (unfortunately) is no longer affected by sirens, gun shots and such... I really would like to know the opinion of the recent tourist we might be getting down here in Rio recently AFTER their vacations. Things are going really bad, one might think he was in a Hollywood flick.
