They've said all along that CoP will be closing when Stitch has opened.
Yeah, I just think some people were wishin' that it really wouldn't. I'm so glad I saw CoP last month, 'cause I keep being afriad that it's going to become the next 20K.

My best hope was since it was fairly close to the holidays, they would leave it open through New Year's, then return to seasonal status.

Too bad. It sounds like SGE isn't particularly little-kid-friendly, so my 4 year old and I will just have one fewer option in Tomorrowland. I too hope that the closure is truly temporary.

I just have one small question, though.....

I will need to flip thorugh my WDW Encyclopedia to find the definition of WHAT THE HELL SEASONAL ACTUALLY IS!!??!!

Last time I checked, quite a few attractions that are seasonal have NOT been open during the busiest times of the year.

(at least not for any real period of time)

...it's becoming the convenient 'cop-out' for "if we get around to it".

Well I just spoke to Guest Relations they had no info that either CoP or TK would be closing anytime soon. At best (worst) they say it may close down for seasonal operational schedule. There is no closing scheduled or announced for anytime soon for refurbishment or due to SGE. Also, the disneyworld.com site would list its closure if it was for rehab. They usually post things well in advance. So I dont foresee any sort of closure coming (other than a seaonal) in the near future.

Now I questioned a CM on "seasonal schedule". She said this is a season where most things won't be closing. She said Thanksgiving is the busiest time of year, followed by Xmas. There is a two week-three week lull in between those two, where its not worth it too close seaonal rides for just a couple weeks. For those of you going between now and New Years, its a good bet these two rides will be open for you.

Both of them were open yesterday.

It's a tax write-off. By categorizing things such as "Wonders of Life" as seasonal and keeping them open a certain number of days per fiscal year they can continue to get the tax benefits as many of the attractions are seperate financial entites.

There is some article talking about this over at JimHill a few months back - though his info is often times from dubious sources I had heard about this long before he wrote a report on it and am relatively confident that it is accurate.

I am really hoping that it will be open in two weeks when I get up there. I don't know what the CM was talking about being open in Dec. I have been attending the MVMCP for many, many years now and last year was the first time I saw it open in Dec.
