Just got back on Friday 12/4

Second solo trip was at WDW 11/29-12/4. That was after 3 days at US/IOA.

Crowds at WDW were larger than I had expected but still very manageable. Show attractions were maybe 3/4 full. Except for Nemo. As expected the crowds got larger towards the end of week. They were doing the Xmas Parade taping on Thursday and Friday in the MK

Space Mountain looks great, I really dont understand what all the fuss is about. I am a casual once a year visitor so the ride looked great inside and out.

I have never been at this time of year and was blown away by the parks and decorations. Osborne Lights are AMAZING. As are the castle lights. I went to MVMCP on a Tuesday night not crowded at all. YES I would do it again its fun and a great way to see the MK.

This was my first trip not to rely on Disney Transportatation. I had a rent car the whole week and I will never go back to the buses. I thought I would miss not being bused around and hate the hassel of getting on the tram and walking to the car, but OH NO. The car thing is the way to go.

I was on the dining plan and will do a another dining report in the dining section

Had a great time cant wait to go back

glad to hear that you had a good time! i love the dining plan too and think its now a must for every trip. i've never been to wdw at christmas time and i am hoping to go next year. glad to hear you thought the party was worth it.

We have always used Disney Transportation and have often thought about renting a vehicle. Could you elaborate more on why you think renting is the way to go. Thanks.

Its like night and day, I used to swear by Disney Transportation, and the little glitches that would happen, (i.e, long waits at opening and close, standing room only, bad service to DTD) I would just chalk it up to thats just the way it is.

One example, I left Epcot or DHS(I cant remember) at 10p, I wanted to just pick up a few specific things at World of Disney at DTD. I made it there in 10 to 15 minutes and still had 45 minutes to shop before they closed at 11p. Totally impossible to do with Disney Transportation.

It was great having ADR's at Cape May, I parked at Beach Club Resort, ate Dinner walked to Epcot, saw Illuminations walked back to Beach Club hopped in my car and was back at POP before the bus people made it ot of the park to the Epcot bus stops.

There were always Trams waiting to pick up or drop off waiting, if I just missed it there was one right behind it pulling up. As I said a car has now become as a important option as the park hopper option on my ticket. I just wont do without it

I agree about having your own car for the world...except for the magic kingdom. i do like the fact that the bus takes you all the way to the entrance and skips the ticket center. When going to Downtown Disney having your own car is 100% better than the buses! For all the other parks it's pretty easy to park too. It's always nice to be able to come and go when you want and also gives you the option of some great places to eat and shop off property.

Well, now you really have me considering a car rental for my upcoming trip. I always swore that I would never take a car onto Disney property, but after hearing all the pros you listed I may be rethinking this idea. Thanks for the trip report. :xmas:

I agree with you soooo much on the car thing....we will not go to Disney without renting a car now....when everyone else is stuck on a HUGE line to get on a bus or monorail, we are already at our hotel. After all the years we did Disney transportation....I AM DONE!
