Hello, we just got back after a cruise on the Disney Dream!
Despite the pandemic still being a live and well, I have to say I really enjoyed the cruise, arguably, it's the best we've had. Definitely, in terms of service, the best we've had.
Here are some notes.
1. Despite going to Castaway Cay twice, the cruise was not close to being at capacity - maybe even around half capacity. Low lines for nearly everything, especially for families with children. At most activities, we were able to walk right up to the front. Of course, that may change as word gets out. The busiest day was the sea day, of course. Still, no issues enjoying what we wanted at any point in time.
2. It looks like the dry dock still took place on the Disney Dream. The Cabanas logo bill board was removed and replaced with a hand washing station, which they do enforce. Another change we noticed is that the booths are gone from the Enchanted Garden. It makes for a much more open restaurant, which also received new carpeting. The fountain is still in the center and beautiful as ever.
3. The app has received some great upgrades and I hope they'll continue it (still no app ordering for room service). You can join a virtual queue to get off at Castaway Cay, for example. We joined the group about 9:30am and got to get off pretty much immediately. It's mostly just for the first few groups, it seems.
4. I did see them enforcing their facial coverings requirement. They are expected in public indoor areas and at a few outdoor areas at Castaway Cay (food, trams, merchandise areas).
5. No Golden Mickeys. Our cruise was four days, they did Believe on the first and last nights and Beauty and the Beast the middle two nights. The fireworks, which did not last more than five minutes, but were done twice (each of the middle two nights). No stage show prior to them going off and no longer Pirates themed, but music from animated movies. Also no See Ya Real Soon show, they did do a lot of photo opportunities though, just without the production aspect. Still lots of fun regardless.
Let me know if I can help with any questions from a guest perspective.
