thanks everyone for answering questions i have asked about Disneyland in recent weeks. I have just returned from my first trip there. after numerous trips to the resort in FL, i wasn't sure what to expect. i went into it with the thinking that i wouldn't compare the 2 and for the most part i didn't. now that i'm back i will compare ;) with the exception of splash mountain, i'm surprised that i find myself more in love with Disneyland than WDW. comparing the 2 magic kingdoms alone, there's just so much more to do in Disneyland we didn't even get to it all. most, but not all. i guess i'm saying this because if anyone is a DL snob or thinks they won't like it, i suggest giving it a try. u may be surprised how much u enjoy it! & i have to say there was just something special about walking the park that Walt personally walked. seeing (the outside) of the apartment he lived in over the firehouse & experiencing the park that was his personal baby. just magical. well anyways i'll shut up now but i just wanted to say we had a great time & will definitely be back!

I like that everything is so close. In WDW if you walk across the park and back, it take a long time, but at Disneyland, it only takes a few minutes to get across and back again. Or even to get to rides next to each other!

I cannot wait until 2015 when we get to go to DL! I hav been twice when I was a little kid, and wdw more times than I can count! I can't wait for my boys to experience that park and all the extra stuff it has to offer that wdw doesn't hve. We just need to wait for our youngest to get a little taller! I couldn't take him there and tell him he couldn't go on the Cars ride, which Cars is one of his favorites...lol

Which time of the year will you be going?

After riding the original Splash Mountain, I'm surprised it ever got cloned, honestly. The WDW/Tokyo version is so much better.

I know, right..?
It was so incredible though when it first opened at DL in 89'.
Nothing really like it at the time.

When it was 'cloned' for WDW a few years later the team assembled to do the task reinvested heavily in the concept and it shows.
Better staging in some scenes, the different musical scores, the scale, and a much better themed flume itself.

As rough as the Original is looking these days, i still get a buzz riding on the ol' 'River Run'....

I know the constraints and solutions the imagineers faced and used, respectively, and so I do respect the ride a great deal... but they got an extra 25 years out of those America Sings animatronics! I think the ride has enough staying power by now to justify a big spruce-up.

Agree.
The Original 'Splash Mountain' at DL needs a complete overhaul to restore it to the condition it was when it first opened.
Hopefully the next refurb coming up will freshen things up a bit.

The full refurb done last year for WDW's version was spectacular.
Would like to see that same kind of love for the Original...it deserves it.
:)
